"How did you get better so quickly?" I asked. Mary had already said goodbye when the clock on her hand chimed, indicating the alarm for Mrs. Citra’s class that she was attending. That's when I grabbed Jasper's wrist as I looked into Jasper's hazel-coloured eyes. "I'm not human if you forget, Rosalie. How about you? Is everything okay?" Jasper asked. "Of course, I should be the one asking you," I lamented. "You can see for yourself. I'm fine," Jasper said. I punched him in the chest and made him wince for a second. I knew he was joking, but remembering that he suddenly fainted in front of me made me doubt the smile he was currently wearing. "Kuai won't faint again. Right?" I asked. Jasper just laughed; he spread his arms and hugged me very tightly. It felt like he was upset and didn't want to let go of me for a second. His irregular breathing made me wonder what was wrong with him. "What's wrong with you?" I asked. "This is what I hate about humans. They're too sensitive to someone's situation, or is that just you?" he asked as he continued to stroke my back. "Jasper, I'm sorry I asked you about your powers. I know that's a pretty sensitive topic for you," I said as I returned his hug. "Hey, I should be the one apologizing. I'm sorry I haven't been able to tell you directly, Rosalie. I just didn't want to tell you yet," Jasper said. I let go of his embrace, took hold of his face, and brought it into line with mine. I looked at him deeply, trying to trace the entity I could detect in his eyes. "Jasper, I might know what your life was like before you met me. I don't know what I meant to you and your family. However, one thing is certain: Like you said, you're the only reason to live right now," I said as I took his hand. "Rosalie, I really don't know what to do. I can't live without you," she said as she kissed the back of my palm. It seemed like he had something on his mind. However, whatever it was, I think it was related to my presence in his life. "I have to think it through, Jasper. Would you rather let me go but still be able to see me? Or be with me, but kill me and your whole family slowly," I said. I know it's not a good option, but it's the only one I can propose to Jasper. I know I brought a lot of havoc to his family. That's why I don't want to demand things, especially with my present. Jasper was seriously injured, and even his family was terrorized. Even though my heart hurt when I said those words, "That's not an option. I'm not going to choose one of your options. I'll make a third option," Jasper said. He returned my hand and took me along the hallway of the campus. Even though all the eyes of his fans were on that handshake, somehow, I felt that I didn't care, as long as I was with Jasper. Everything will be safe and under control. "Looks like you guys are getting sticky, huh?" muttered Mr. George as he passed us with a busy look at his phone. However, Jasper's face did not look happy with Mr. George's words, which I thought were just a joke. His grip was tighter, and his breathing was different. Why, what am I missing since Jasper woke up? "Jasper, what's wrong with you?" I whispered. It was then that Jasper relaxed, his gaze returning to its calm state. "I'm sorry, Rosalie. I think I need to take you somewhere," Jasper said as he carried me bride style. *** I didn't know what place Jasper was referring to. However, for sure, I could feel the dampness of the ground as my shoes dropped to the surface for the first time after being carried by Jasper. When I opened my eyes, I saw a large, beautiful lake. Although the calm water scared me, "Isn't it beautiful?" Jasper asked. I nodded, wanting to take a step forward. Jasper held my hand and shook his head at me. "Why?" I asked. "There are many unexpected things here, Rosalie. I don't want you to get hurt," Jasper said. He led me slowly along the edge of the lake, but I was a bit surprised when one of my feet fell into a hole that I didn't see. However, I was grateful that Jasper was quick to catch me, even as he laughed. "I told you, didn't I? There are many unexpected things here," he said. "But the lake is very beautiful. How did you know about this place?" I asked. "I just got lucky. I found this place while I was hunting," she said. Then she looked at me again. "I want to show you something here. So, I hope you don't mind if I bring a friend," Jasper said. Unnaturally, Elle came out, shaking her hair. Her expression looks very annoyed at Jasper; it looks like she will be the victim of Jasper's project today. "I will show my power. With Elle as the vessel," Jasper said. I glared in disbelief. How could he hurt his own brother so much? Yet somehow, I felt Elle took it stoically. "You're not going to hurt her, are you?" I asked. Jasper shook his head. "You'll find out later; come here, Elle," he said. Elle also approached Jasper with a lazy expression, after which we stood face-to-face. Even though Elle was just silent, somehow Jasper suddenly said that he had used his power on Elle. "I've used my powers," Jasper said. "He's lying; don't believe him," said Elle. Jasper shook Elle's hand briefly, and a second later, Elle seemed confused about where she was. "Damn, I'm really not used to your powers," Elle said, annoyed. "What? Wait a minute, have you used your powers on Elle?" I wondered. Jasper laughed and nodded. "Describe what you're feeling, Elle?" Jasper asked. "Nothing, just my memories are gone," Elle explained. Wait, her memories? Jasper had just erased Elle's memories. So, Jasper's power is to erase people's memories? Then why didn't he erase my memory when she suddenly fainted? "I have the power to erase memories. However, it depends on how much I want to erase someone's memory. That's why my family doesn't want to tell you, because I might erase all their memories after living for centuries," Jasper explained. "What about me? If one day you prefer to leave me, will you erase all my memories too?" I asked. I knew my question had Jasper on the edge of his seat. Even Elle herself was silent. I just wondered what answer would come out of her mouth. "Rosalie, I won't let that happen," Jasper said.
