CHAPTER THREE

I blankly stared at my pack mates for a few seconds before it registered to me what they had just said and asked, "Are you kidding with me?" Harry rubbed his chin and looked at me sheepishly. "Maybe." "I am not going back there," I exclaimed. Harry got down on his knees and started begging. "Please. You only have to stay there until the Wolves conference, and then you can come back home with us. Also, Ethan will be with you the entire time, and you can show your old pack that you are a bad b***h now." I looked down into my best friend's eyes and then thought about all the innocent pack members who were murdered by the rogues. They were just normal pack members that did nothing to me. I only had beef with the Alpha anyway. I could also go home to meet my parents and my best friend, Lilith, who must have been worried about me after I left. "Fine, but only for the two weeks to train their warriors. After that, I am out of there and I will meet you at the conference" I said to the boys. Harry got up from his knees and gave me a bone-crushing hug along with the other two boys. Although I didn't want to go back there, Harry was right, I am stronger and am the beta of one of the most powerful packs. I am better now than him, and I am going to show that bastard ex-mate of mine that I am not weak anymore and don't need him. "When are we leaving for the Dark Sun" I asked Harry. "Two days" he replied to me. I will send you the list of what I want you to do there tomorrow afternoon. Ethan and you can pick out the warriors you want to take tomorrow and tell them to pack, so you can leave the day after for Dark Sun. "I better not regret this asshole," I said, and before I left I quickly kicked him in the balls and ran away. "You mf!" Harry explained. That's for not telling me about this before today, I said, running away and laughing my head off. I ran into my room and locked the door before Aiden could run after me. The next day, Ethan and I picked out seven pack warriors to take with us to the Dark Sun. Along with that, Harry sent me the list of tasks for what to do in the pack. The next two weeks would consist of training their warriors, helping them hunt down the rouges, and making plans to keep the rogues. And making plans to keep the rogues out of the packland. After those two weeks, Ethan and the Dark Sun high-position wolves would go to the Alpha conference to meet with the rest of my pack. The alpha conference is when the alpha, beta, gamma, and head warriors from all packs in the region meet up to talk about issues of that year. The royal pack is in our region but is not obligated to come to the conference. No one has seen the alpha of alphas, also known as the king, in over a century. He hasn't come out from the royal pack lands, which has the biggest land out of all the packs in the world. Although no one has seen him, he is rumored to be cruel and vicious and has no mercy for those who betray and anger him. Lycans are immortal werewolves with extra strength and the royal pack only consists of lycans. The night before, I left for the Dark Sun pack Harry joined me in my room as I packed. "You know you don't have to do this if you don't want to," he said. "I don't do anything I don't want to, so don't worry" I replied. He walked over to my side of my room and hugged me. "I love you, Dahlia, that bastard didn't deserve you, nobody does" I smiled and replied, "I love you too, you are my family and made me who I am now." "No, I didn't make you, I just helped the badass you come out," he said. I laughed and lightly punched him on his arm. He mockingly held his arm and said "Ow. I am in an abusive relationship. "You haven't seen anything yet," I said, holding up my fist. He ran back to the other side of the room and said "Ok. Ok. Calm down woman, I don't want to lose my balls." As I lay in my bed I thought about how I would be in my old pack again. I was excited about seeing my parents and friends. I am also excited about showing my ex-mate the new me that I made without him. The day we left, I made my way downstairs and headed to the dining hall for breakfast. We're supposed to leave after breakfast for Dark Sun. I enjoyed my last meal with the pack for the next two weeks, catching up on the pack gossip. After breakfast, we got into the three cars, taking us into the dark sun pack. Before getting into Ethan and I's car, I hugged Luke and Harry hard. They were the ones there for me when I was nothing and now stand by me when I am strong. I got into the car and Ethan asked me "Are you ready for this Dahlia." I smirked and replied, "Let's show Dark Sun the new and improved Dahlia Reed. It took me, Ethan, and the rest of the warriors about twelve hours to reach the Dark Sun territory. We stayed at a hotel a few miles away from Dark Sun and headed over to the packland in the morning since it was too late to go now. After dinner, Ethan and I went to the balcony to talk about our plans for Dark Sun tomorrow. "Are you nervous about tomorrow, Dahlia?" Ethan asked me. I looked at him and then turned my head towards the bright moon. "Not really. Mostly excited about seeing my parents and friends. They must have been so worried when I left. "They will understand why you left," Ethan said to me. "I know, but I should have called them in the past two years" I answered. "They can't be mad about that, your mate rejected you. You had to leave and not contact them if your ex-mate's wolf took over and tried to find you, he said back. I nodded and stood up from my chair on the balcony. "We should go to bed, we have a long day tomorrow," I said. Ethan laughed and said, "Can't wait for their expressions when they see the new you." I gave him a chuckle and said "Don't I know it?" After that, I headed to my room and thought about all the possible scenarios for tomorrow. The excitement of seeing my parents but also the bad thoughts about Raid. I wanted to show him that I didn't need him anymore, but curiosity still won. I wondered if he had mated again and if he was married. I wondered if he had children while I was still alone and lonely. Call me selfish, but I wanted him to be as miserable as me. Although I had found my new family that wouldn't give up anything, I was still sometimes reminded that for me to find my new family I had been rejected. It somehow angered me that while I was alone he had gotten his dream life.
