ALEXI’S POV
The only seat left in the class was at the back two seats from my right, so the teacher told him to sit there. The teacher started the class as usual; I didn’t notice him after that until he came to me during the break. “Hey! Um…. You are the only one left to introduce myself to so…. what’s your name?”, he asked. “Alexi”, I said and continued reading the book that was in my hand “Right, and what are you reading?” I looked at him as if he was mad, it was obvious in my face that I wasn’t interested in talking anymore and here he was still trying to have a conversation with me. I sighed and continued reading my book. And guess what he sat in the seat in front of me and continued asking questions like this during the whole break, I just ignored him until the bell rang and he said bye and returned to his seat.
‘Like what is his problem? there are a lot of girls and boys in the class who want to be friends with him. Why the hell is he behind MY back? I seriously don’t get it, like its pretty damn obvious that I am not interested in being friends with him or anyone else for that matter, so why would he still try to talk to me? I mean- “Alexi what are you thinking about so hard in the English class?”, the teacher asked. I was startled, ‘I totally forgot about me being in the class, s**t!’ I thought for a moment before answering and said, “Sir I was thinking if Mrs. Dorling was acting about not recognizing the author or if she was just genuinely confused at first. I mean it says that it has been a long time after the war that the author returned to collect the belongings so….” “Yes, Alexi it is a question to think about actually. Class this is a homework for you to find out about” the whole class sighed out loud and looked at me I shrugged and sat back down. ‘Thank god it was English class and that I read the chapter last night’ I thought. I looked at Aiden and he was smiling as if he knew what I was thinking, and his smile grew when he saw me looking at him. I looked back to the teacher and listened to the rest of the class.
PRESENT
‘Why is it so hard to live?’ I thought, it was quiet in the house but nowadays silence scares me the most. I am afraid I might do something to myself. I am not the same Alexi anymore and I know it. I am afraid of letting people in like I was at first. Life has become quiet ever since he left, I can’t seem to get enough of sleep, and I am tired all the time. I am always caved up in my room. ‘I wish you would be back soon it’s only been 2 months and I can’t seem to do anything other than read even reading seems boring now that I know how nice it feels to have someone whom you can talk to anytime you want. Come back Aiden, I am dying here.’
