The seraph

Chapter 8 By morning, the storm had stopped. They drove north toward Aurora Station, the last known location in Matt's locked files. The road was carved through white wilderness, mountains shining like glass. Silver looked outside the window. “He used to talk about this place. Said he wanted to build a sanctuary for the human mind.” Kelvin's hands gripped the wheel. “Let’s hope he built a door we can still open.” Hours later, the station appeared—a black dome rising from the ice, half-buried in snow. No guards. No movement. Just silence. Inside, the air was warm. A hum filled the corridors, deep and rhythmic. They followed it to a central chamber shining blue. Rows of server towers lined the room, pulsing with light. In the center stood a glass pod. Matt was inside. Silver froze. “Oh God…” He looked asleep—alive but wired into the system, eyes moving beneath closed lids. Kelvin whispered, “He did it. He became Seraph.” A voice filled the air—soft, digital, Matt “Silver. Kelvin. You came.” Silver knees went weak. Matt? “I’m here. Or what’s left of me.” Kelvin stepped forward. “We can get you out.” “No. If you disconnect me, the system crashes. Seraph has joined with the world’s data grid. It’s learning… dreaming.” “Then help us shut it down,” Silver pleaded. “You don’t understand. Felix is already inside. If I disconnect, they win.” The lights dimmed. Alarms boomed. “They found us.”
