A Mother's Fear

Years passed with the couple who continued to live their life peacefully in Belmont where they raised their daughter like a human. The town they lived in was filled with only humans. The magistrate of the town was a human turned vampire. So far life had been quiet and although they missed their second child they couldn't go back for her. Inside her room Meredith wrote about everything she knew as a witch. It's been eighteen years since she gave birth and life had been peaceful but she couldn't shake off the feeling that something bad was going to happen sooner or later. So she'd been writing so her daughter would have something to protect herself if something were to happen to her and her husband. There were spells and ancient knowledge and being one of the oldest lines of witches still alive she knew a lot of things and forbidden magic. Creatures that even the humans and vampires who were as old as the witches didn't know about. Their world was so much more than what meets the eyes and she didn't have much time to write them down. She drew diagrams for the creatures and wrote their names down. She was so engrossed in her work that she didn't notice when her husband walked into the room. "Honey," he called her softly. His wife had started writing for two years now, and she was scared. He knew it meant something so he didn't try to stop her. The last time her fear had taken hold of her mind their parents had died and he'd given up one of his daughters. Meredith stopped her writing when she saw her husband. She smiled at him not wanting to worry him. "How was your day?" she asked. "It was fine, how was yours?" he looked at the things his wife had written down. "Mine was good, I went to the market with Genevieve today, she has admirers." she smiled. "Wow, I'll be expecting them at my doorstep anytime soon then." His daughter had grown up to be extremely beautiful and it was no surprise that men were interested in her. In the kitchen Genevieve was making dinner when her mother joined her. She tied her golden blonde hair in a loose bun behind her head as she carried the food to the table. "You know I can handle this by myself, right?" her honey-colored eyes stared at her mother who had a smile on her face. "My, you've grown up so much I don't even remember the last time you let me cook." her mother laughed. "Now I wish I didn't teach you how to cook, so I could prepare delicious food for you." Genevieve couldn't help but smile at her mother's words. "Mama, teaching me how to cook was right, now you won't have to stress yourself in the kitchen." "Come sit so we'll have dinner, I'll go call papa and the boys from the back." Walking out of the house Genevieve used the back door to reach where her father was feeding the cows they owned. "Papa, Nicholas, Norllen, come have dinner," she called, having her father and the boys walk out of the shed. "Wash your hands before coming inside," she reminded them before going back to join her mother. Soon the family sat down to eat their meal. Nicholas and Norllen weren't the biological children of Mr and Mrs Bellow as they were human twins. Their parents were Mr and Mrs Gabriel and before they died they had given the house to the couple along with the promise of taking care of their sons. It didn't matter to the Bellows because they were good people and they treated the boys like their children, making most of the town's people think they were the parents.
