The Wolf Part 2

“What? What are you talking about?” I muttered feeling off-balanced being so close to him. His body heat was surrounding me in waves. “I’m not really allowed to say just yet,” he admitted. The realization hit me. He must have restrictions on his curse as well. “I think maybe you could help me though. Will you help me, Scarlet?” “With what?” His lips curled up into a seductive smile that stuttered my heart. “Let’s call it a compatibility test, will you help?” “What would I have to do?” I felt perplexed by him. Despite his size he was very calm and gentle toward me. He hadn’t tried to intimidate me and even the little nicknames felt more charming to me than not. “Kiss me,” he breathed but the unmistakable command was there. Damn it. I went to my toes brushing my lips over his surprising full ones. He groaned and I drew back dropping to my feet. “That wasn’t a real kiss little morsel,” he sighed licking his lower lip, “but still you taste sweet.” “A real kiss?” I repeated before I could stop myself. His arm wrapped around my waist. He flexed, lifting me to my toes effortlessly. His eyes shone with an amber glow as he lowered his head, kissing me softly. His tongue teased along my lower lip, and I gasped at the hot, wet feel. He moaned a deep rumble in his chest as he slid his tongue in teasing it over mine. My whole body felt hot. I trembled as he danced his tongue across mine. My heart hammered hard against my ribs. His hand moved at my side moving up and I trembled jerking back a bit. “You are definitely sweet enough to eat little lamb,” he sighed, licking his lower lip. “Do you need help getting to your grannies?” “No, I’ll be ok. She lives only a few hours west of here,” I assured in a whisper not trusting my own voice, “but thank you.” “It was a pleasure meeting you cursed kin,” he cooed as he gave me one last glance. “Would you by chance have any food to spare?” I pulled out the wrapped carved meat from the satchel, handing it to him. “Are you sure you won’t be needing this?” “I’m good with the bread and my Gran has other food I can eat when I get there,” I said feeling myself blush as he smiled a warm grin. “Thank you Scarlett,” he purred. “I hope to see you around. Make sure you travel safely.” The order sank in releasing me from his previous order thankfully. “Safe travels to you Avery,” I said as I jumped the river easily moving fast up the path west. After two hours I split off and went south to the land my Gran cleared for me. It was almost nightfall when I finally found the cottage. I located the hidden key and let myself into the cozy decorated space. I locked the door securely before flopping to the couch in exhaustion. My mind kept replaying the interaction with Avery and my body ached in such foreign ways from my heart to a much more intimate part.
