"Let me out of here!" Clive yelled from the dungeons.
"Calm down," Elara said.
She had come immediately after the ceremony to see him.
"The mating ceremony is over."
"So she truly went through with it."
"There's something else you should know."
"What's that?" He asked curiously.
"They're planning to merge the packs." She replied casually.
"What? What do you mean?"
"They made a blood pact and a new pack link. The Stone Pack doesn't exist anymore. We've
become the Black Cardinals."
"No." Clive cried.
"I'm sorry."
"Tell those men to get me out of here." He demanded.
Just on cue, Carl appeared from the shadows dangling a key in his fingers.
"I'm going to free you, but you have to behave yourself. I'm only doing this because of our
history."
"You betrayed me. Our past shall lay forgotten from now henceforth."
Carl inserted the key into the keyhole to set him free, and then he disappeared into the shadows
once more. Clive pushed the door open and came out looking furious.
"Where's Romania?" He asked. Elara then led him in the direction of where their mother sat with
her new husband and the new council of elders.
"I want no part in this." He said on his arrival.
"I see your time in the dungeons has taught you nothing," Roscoe replied calmly.
Just then, a loud bang sounded outside and shouts erupted from all around. Everyone in the
room crouched low on the ground while trying to take cover.
"What the hell was that?" Roscoe asked.
The guards rushed forward and ran outside to see what the commotion was about. A war cry
rang out from the warriors who had gone outside.
"We are under attack. Sound the bells." Roscoe ordered.
He growled and went outside with Clive hot on his heels. Romania also joined them. Elara
looked around in confusion. She wasn't built for battle.
Someone grabbed her elbow suddenly.
Carl.
"Come with me."
The battle raged all around.
Carl unsheathed his claws and began tearing into the invaders. He got so caught up in the fight
that he forgot about her. A wolf appeared in front of her snarling with saliva drooling out of his
mouth.
She tried to run, but the wolf snatched her out of the air and threw her to the ground.
She felt her wrist break and howled in pain. At the sound of her cry, Clive and Carl turned
around sharply. The wolf noticed the attention of the two men and quickly picked Elara up from
the ground and dashed into the woods.
"No!" She cried and struggled to get away, but with each attempt she made, his fangs just tore
into her skin.
The wolf finally dropped her and phased into his human form. Elara gasped at the sight of his
nakedness. She quickly looked away.
He laughed hysterically.
"Don't worry, little wolf. It won't hurt too much. Trust me." He laughed darkly as the sun shone off
his body. His eyes glistened with hatred.
"Stay away from me. Don't touch me."
"Don't resist."
Then, without warning, he slammed her head into the ground.
"Now, get up!" He commanded.
Her head felt heavy from where he had hit her. Impatience oozed off him. He grabbed silver
chains from the ground. Elara hadn't noticed the chains before.
Silver was dangerous to werewolves. She panicked at the sight of it.
"What are you doing?" She demanded.
He grabbed her arms and bound them together using the chains.
Elara wailed in pain as the silver burned her skin.
He grabbed her and dragged her along.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked with tears spilling over her face.
"You'll find out soon enough." He gloated.
"Let her go." Carl's voice filled the atmosphere.
The attacker dropped her on the ground like a rag doll and opened up his arms. "I didn't come to
fight." He announced.
"But, you attacked my home," Carl growled. "Let her go." He demanded.
The attacker shook his head.
"I've come here to claim what is mine." He said.
"Nothing here belongs to you." Carl fired back.
Soon, Clive appeared by Carl's side. His face darkened with surprise and recognition.
"Sam," Clive growled.
"Ah. Clive. I'm glad you recognized me." He snarled.
Clive charged at him with all his strength, but Sam blocked the punch easily and pushed him
back with a flick of his finger.
Carl growled and launched himself at Sam. He grabbed Carl by the neck and slammed him onto
the ground repeatedly.
"I will kill the both of you." He warned.
"Stop, please." Elara cried.
"I've only come to claim what's mine," Sam repeated.
"Call off your wolves, and we will talk," Carl demanded.
Elara saw Roscoe and Romania approaching them. The look on Romania's face was the same
as Clive's. Recognition and surprise. And also, fear.
"Sam." She whispered. Her voice trembled.
"Who is this clown?" Roscoe demanded.
"He is the alpha of the Obsidian Pack. The Night Crawlers." Romania explained.
"What are you doing here?" Romania demanded.
"Like I said, I came to claim what's mine." He gestured to Elara lying helpless on the ground.
"You have no claim over her." Clive snarled.
"The Stone Pack has already been promised to me." Sam stated. "And now, you've merged with
another pack..."
"How do you know that?" Romania asked.
"You've forgotten that I have the most powerful seer in my clan."
"What the hell is he talking about?" Roscoe demanded.
"My former mate wanted to form an alliance with the Night Crawlers," Romania answered.
"That's not all," Sam added. He turned over to Elara. Gently, he squatted next to her and stroked
her cheek.
"Get your hands off her," Carl growled.
"No. Because she's mine. Her parents promised her to me alongside the entire pack, and if I
have to tear this entire place down to get it back, then I will."
Before he could even finish his sentence, Carl tackled him, pushing him to the ground.
Everyone watched on with horror knowing that they were about to kill each other.
Carl landed a blow on Sam's chin, one that was enough to knock him out. Sam's head rolled,
and he turned to the side to spit out blood.
Carl then stood up panting heavily. "Get the hell away from here," he ordered.
"Not without her." Sam fired back.
Elara shouted out in pain as the silver chains around her wrists continued to burn her flesh. Sam
reached for her, but Carl beat him to it. He grabbed Elara off the floor and yanked the chains off
her; she slumped into his arms.
He howled and sunk his teeth into her neck, biting her. Elara cried louder and in more
excruciating pain.Everyone froze in shock.
Carl just claimed her.
