Recap: They're Here!

Inside the hospital, the air felt even heavier. Dr. Jin wheeled Timberly slowly toward the morgue, their footsteps echoing in the quiet corridors. “We’ll use this Jane Doe’s baby to deceive them,” he murmured. “No one will suspect anything. The records will say the child died during labor. Cremation will make it airtight—no one will question it.” Timberly closed her eyes, her hands shaking. “It’s a terrible fate,” she whispered, “but if it’s what keeps my son alive, it’s worth it.” Dr. Jin nodded solemnly. They worked quickly, the infant’s body disappearing into the furnace, the flames devouring all traces of its existence. As the hour ticked by, Jin placed the urn in Timberly’s hands. “It’s done,” he said softly. “They won’t know. Not from this.” Timberly held the urn close, her grip tightening as if it held the remnants of her last hope. “Thank you,” she whispered. “I’ll never be able to repay you.” “You already have,” Dr. Jin replied quietly, pushing her wheelchair back down the hallway. “Now, we wait.” As they approached her room, Timberly’s mind raced with thoughts of her son, now far from her grasp. “I’ll never see him again,” she murmured, the weight of her own sacrifice settling in. “But I can only hope that one day, he’ll know why.” Dr. Jin placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “He’ll know, madam. And he’ll live because of you.” As the door clicked shut behind them, Timberly steeled herself. She knew what was coming. The goons were near, their footsteps echoing like the final toll of a bell. “Let them come,” she whispered, her jaw tight. “I’ll protect him… no matter the cost.” Dr. Jin gave her a sad smile, standing beside her as the sounds of danger grew closer. “For what it’s worth,” he said, his voice soft, “you’ve shown incredible strength, madam. No matter what happens next, you’ve already won.” Timberly nodded, her heart pounding, but her resolve unshaken. The shadows of her past loomed, but she had set a new future in motion. And no matter the cost, her son would live to carry it forward. “I admire your bravery, Madam. No matter what happens, I’ll stay by your side,” Dr. Jin said, his voice calm despite the growing sound of footsteps in the distance. His acceptance of their fate was clear, but Timberly’s face was a mixture of resolve and fear as the imminent danger approached. “Now’s the time to let your emotions flow. After all, you just cremated your newborn,” Jin added gently, offering a bittersweet smile, hoping to stir a release of her pent-up sorrow. Timberly understood his subtle hint. “Clever,” she thought, recognizing that raw emotion might become her shield, a tool to disarm their enemies. The dam of grief she had held back for so long broke, and tears streamed down her face—deep, heavy sobs that echoed in the sterile hospital walls. It wasn’t just a performance; it was years of agony, fear, and loss finally unleashed. The air felt thick with her pain. Dr. Jin watched in silence, his own eyes welling with tears as Timberly’s grief overwhelmed the room. It was not an act. This was real, unfiltered sorrow. The baby, the family legacy, her life—it was all slipping away. And as if on cue, the door burst open, and the thugs stormed in, only to be frozen in place by the heart-wrenching sight before them. The hospital staff, who had been standing idly by, dared not move. They watched, eyes wide, at the mournful scene unfolding before them. Timberly clutched the urn, her cries so raw that even the hardened men who had come to take her away hesitated. The leader, Freddie, narrowed his eyes, but there was something in his expression that showed even he wasn’t immune to human suffering. “Look at her,” Freddie muttered under his breath, his voice low enough for only his closest men to hear. “She’s lost her child. Do we really need to add to that? Do we really want to do this?” One of his underlings, shifting uncomfortably, replied, “Boss, we don’t have a choice. If we don’t take her, our families will pay the price.” Freddie sighed, his face hardening again. “You’re right. No matter how tragic this is, we have our orders. Mr. Jacobs wants her alive, and we’ll let him decide what to do with the doctor.” He turned to his men, his voice regaining its cold authority. “Take them. We’ll be handsomely rewarded for this.” The thugs moved forward, but Timberly didn’t resist. She didn’t have the strength or the will to fight back, her body limp as they took her into custody. Dr. Jin glanced at her, unsure if she had given up or if she had some hidden plan. Either way, he wasn’t about to interfere. He let himself be captured as well, not daring to risk ruining whatever strategy Timberly might have had in mind. Throughout the entire ordeal, Timberly never stopped crying. Her grief was palpable, her tears relentless, and her cries echoed long after they were escorted out. Freddie paused at the door and turned back to address the hospital staff. His voice was low, but filled with a menacing edge. “Listen carefully. None of you saw anything today. If I hear so much as a whisper about this... well, you know what’ll happen.” His cold eyes scanned the room, daring anyone to defy him. Then, with a nod, he and his men disappeared into the night. The hospital staff remained frozen in place, afraid to even breathe, until the cars finally drove away. Once the coast was clear, one of the guards slipped into a corner and pulled out his phone. He hesitated for a moment, then dialed a number. The call was answered after a few rings. “Hello, Mr. Lewis?” the guard whispered, his voice shaking slightly. “The people you asked me to keep an eye on... they’ve been taken. A group of thugs just grabbed them. They mentioned someone named Mr. Jacobs.” On the other end of the line, Jake Lewis sat in silence for a moment, processing the information. He had bribed the guard before leaving, ensuring he’d be updated on everything that happened at the hospital. “Good work,” Jake said, his voice sharp and business-like. Then his tone darkened. “Remember, if you breathe a word of this to anyone, I’ll hunt you down myself. You and your family. Do you understand?” The guard swallowed hard. “Y-yes, sir.” Jake ended the call abruptly, his mind racing. They took Madam alive... but why? His thoughts swirled in confusion and anger. Maybe they’ll spare her. Maybe they’ll torture her first. He clenched his fists, fury bubbling under the surface. Why does that bastard want her alive? Hasn’t he taken enough from her already? Her family, her life, everything… why is he so determined to wipe out the Evert name? Who the hell is pulling his strings?
