*Axel's POV*
She flinched away from me. She thinks I'm a monster. She didn't want me- my biggest fear. I stand there thinking about every decision I've ever made. People fearing me is for the best, I know that. But, I didn't expect this consequence.
"I'm sorry for everything this pack has done to you." She nodded.
Smooth, Blade taunted. You don't even know this girl's name, you've never spoken to her, and your opening line is 'I'm sorry.'
"Kelly gathered your things for you, but there wasn't more than a plastic bag. Do you have anything else?" She shook her head no. My heart broke for several reasons. There's no telling how long my mate has had to live like this. Regardless of the fact that she's my mate, a pack member shouldn't live like this. Kelly said she was a lowly omega whose parents died years ago, but still... She didn't have the basics, she was never allowed to see the pack doctor, and she essentially served the pack. She didn't seem to be a part of it. Kelly even said that Brian had issues reigning her in, and pack members wouldn't dare speak to their Alpha that way.
"We're leaving here soon for the packhouse." I didn't want it to seem like she didn't have a choice, because she didn't. I can't let her stay here anymore.
*Aimee's POV*
Alpha Axel opened the car door for me. I was grateful to have the entire backseat to myself. My head hurt from Prism's pouncing in my head; she was so excited that she had her mate.
I, on the other hand, was apprehensive because this Alpha was also the person who killed my family. My mother, the Luna of the Dark Moon pack, had sent me along with a mission group to Moon River to help build guest packhouses after the flood that destroyed so much. When we heard the news, everyone went back to search for their family. Somehow, I knew mine was already dead.
When the news finally surfaced, everything was confirmed. The pack was burned to the ground. I was the only survivor. The news reported that there was no one else. Everyone thought the pack was simply gone. I can't imagine a good enough reason for Alpha Axel's actions, but even the Elder's didn't issue any sort of punishment. How did the moon goddess expect me to forgive him? I had lost everything because of him. I stayed with a pack that abused me with the intention of running away and resurfacing as Luna of the Dark Moon pack.
That was impossible now.
I watched Alpha Axel throughout the twelve-hour journey to Shadow Moon. He ordered mine and Beta Mike's food before he ordered his own. He always made sure that everyone else was taken care of before he worried about himself. He always asked if it was okay if he took or made a phone call before he made it. If I didn't know better, I'd think he was kind and considerate. Fortunately, I knew better.
*UNKNOWN POV*
Alpha Axel will get what's coming to him. I've thought my plan through and came up with backup plan after backup plan. My plan was foolproof. Now, I had to get started making preparations. First, I needed to call in a favor from Ezra. Soon, I'll be ready, but the Shadow Moon pack won't be.
