Twice Marked,Twice Loved

Chapter 3

Father kept talking about the coronation of the silver pack, petering about it , saying I must go.I had no choice. My beta Levi came in, he was my childhood friend, his father was the formal beta of our pack , he decided to take over and I also took over from my father as the Alpha of Lockwood pack.

“Aren't you going to the coronation”Levi said , “am about going, he knew I was not interested in going.I needed to represent my pack.Levi’s mate Amaya, came in,they were great couples, she is pregnant with Levi's pup, I haven't found my mate, l hope she's safe wherever she is,.

“It's time to go Gale”..., we set out , I heard the New Alpha is known for his pride and ego , I never had a liking for him.

I stood at the edge of the grand hall, nursing a glass of wine, as I observed the coronation festivities,as a visiting dignitary from a neighbouring pack.

The new Alpha , resplendent in his formal attire,stood at the center of the hall, basking in congratulations of his pack members .I watched with a mixture of curiosity and detachment ,my mind wondering about my own pack’s affairs.

Little did I know , a surprise awaited me, a gift bestowed upon me by the new Alpha, one that would change my life forever.

The coronation festivities had long ended and I'd returned to my usual routine.As a member and Alpha of the Lockwood pack, I was tasked with overseeing our pack's trade with neighbouring packs.

My days were filled with meetings, negotiations and other occasional patrols of our pack border. It was a demanding but rewarding job,one that allowed me to serve my pack and protect its interest.

As I walked through the park's central square,I exchanged greetings with my fellow pack members. They were a familiar sight and I felt a sense of comfort and belonging to them.

But despite the familiarity, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. A sense of restlessness has been growing inside me , one that I couldn't explain.

Unknowingly, my life was about to take a dramatic turn , that would upend everything I knew.

As I entered the chambers, I saw the new Alpha standing by the side of the window with a small smile on his face,”Gale, thank you for coming, I have a special gift for you , one which would bring great joy”.

He gestured for a figure standing in the shadows , as the figure moved forward, my heart skipped a bit, I felt it; the unmistakable spark of the mate bond , my wolf was all hopping, happy that he had finally found his mate.

My heart racing , I struggled to maintain a neutral expression, I couldn't let the Alpha suspect that I'd recognize her as my mate.Not yet.

I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself .”Ah,thank you, Alpha,” my voice steady. “I'm… honored by your gift “.

The Alpha smiled, seemingly pleased to himself.The young woman was so delicate, she had green piercing eyes, which was filled with a hint of fear,of uncertainty but she looked away.

I felt a pang of guilt , knowing I was pretending not to recognize her as my mate , but I had to be cautious. The Alpha's motives were unclear, and I needed time to figure out what was going on.

As I stood there pretending to be nonchalant, my mind was racing. The mate bond was intense, overwhelming and utterly exhilarating.I felt like I was punched in the gut, my emotions swirling in a chaotic storm.

I couldn't believe it, my mate was standing right in the front of me but I had to pretend like I didn't recognize her,It was a big torture.

My eyes locked into hers, drinking the sight of her, she was beautiful with piercing green eyes and long brown curly hair. Her delicate and slender figure made her look like a provolone doll.

But it was more than that , I could sense her strength, resilience, determination , she was a survivor, warrior.

“ And she was mine”

I felt a growl growing in my throat, “Kane we need to calm down”, “mate,mate,” we need to protect mate.I calmed him down ,I took a deep breath, I needed to be smart, I had to be careful.

Thank you.. Alpha, I'll take care of her, “Moreover she's just an asset”, Kane groaned slightly, I calmed him, “ yes she is…”.
