Right now, Sophia's most crucial task was to uncover the truth behind the crisis that almost destroyed her family and hold accountable those who had caused harm to her father and endangered Turner Enterprises. With this in mind, a faint cold smile played upon Sophia’s lips. “I'm fine, brother. All of that is in the past now.”
Nathan Scott, surrounded and adored like a celebrity in the middle of the crowd, caught a glimpse of a familiar figure from afar – Ethan Turner, embracing Sophia. Nathan was surprised to see Ethan, known for his low profile and somewhat old-fashioned demeanor, holding a woman so publicly. This piqued Nathan’s curiosity about the woman in Ethan’s arms.
However, as Sophia’s face was completely buried in Ethan's chest, her identity remained a mystery to Nathan. All he could see was her in a pale jade evening dress with an open back design that elegantly showcased her butterfly bones. Her waist-length wavy hair cascaded freely, adding a touch of unrestrained sexiness. There was something familiar about her silhouette, and just as Nathan thought to approach and satisfy his curiosity about Ethan’s companion, the auctioneer’s voice suddenly boomed across the room.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the charity auction will start shortly. Please take your seats now!”
Hearing this, the guests disbanded and headed to their assigned seats. Nathan realized it was no longer appropriate to approach Ethan at this moment and decided to let go of his curiosity, heading to his VIP seat instead.
Fortunately for Sophia, her seat was arranged at the other end of the VIP section from Nathan's, sparing her a direct encounter with him. The Moran family, the event's main hosts, occupied the central seats. Unfortunately, the Moran matriarch couldn’t attend due to health reasons, and the family was represented by the eldest grandson, Sebastian Moran.
Sophia was seated between Sebastian and Ethan. With Sebastian’s lively nature, there was no worry about any awkward silence. She only needed to listen quietly.
The auctioneer on stage introduced the auction process with vibrant enthusiasm. As the final item was brought out, covered in a deep blue silk cloth, the excitement in his voice peaked.
“Esteemed guests, this final item is a cherished diamond necklace donated by Mrs. Moran herself. As it’s a donation from the Moran family, I invite Mr. Sebastian Moran to introduce it to everyone. Let’s welcome him!”
Called upon, Sebastian confidently took the stage without any sign of nervousness. He leaned towards Sophia and whispered, “Remember what you promised me, Amanda.”
Sophia, a bit perplexed by Sebastian’s mysterious request, watched him take the stage.
Taking the microphone from the attendant, Sebastian calmly addressed the audience. “Ladies and gentlemen, this final item is quite special. It’s a necklace my grandfather gave to my grandmother as an anniversary gift. She treasured it for decades but hasn't worn it in recent years due to her age. My grandmother said it would look better on someone younger and didn’t want it to just gather dust. As the necklace symbolizes eternal love, she decided to donate it for auction in the hopes it brings a loving couple together. It would fulfill her wish.”
His words were met with thunderous applause.
Sophia was deeply moved by the story of Sebastian’s grandparents’ unwavering love and admiration.
As the applause subsided, the auctioneer raised his hand to signal silence, then gestured for the attendant to unveil the mysterious final item.
As the deep blue drapery was lifted, gasps filled the room. Displayed on the stand was a breathtakingly beautiful blue diamond necklace. The main diamond, easily fifteen to sixteen carats, sparkled under the lights with its unique brilliance.
The women in the room, especially, were captivated by the "Heart of the Ocean" on display, their eyes unable to tear away from it. What woman wouldn't want her own diamond, especially one as rare and exquisite as this necklace?
Isabella Reed, upon seeing the "Heart of the Ocean," was completely entranced, her eyes locked onto it, filled with an intense longing to make it her own.
"Nathan, this necklace is so beautiful!" Isabella exclaimed, her eyes brimming with desire as she looked at Nathan.
"Hmm. If you want it, bid for it," Nathan replied softly, his tone indifferent.
Delighted by Nathan’s response, Isabella clung to his arm, her voice tinged with excitement. "Do you mean you’ll bid for it and give it to me?"
