The Car Ride Home

1213 Words
Marla and Ava waited in Grey’s office. Ava was still picturing Grey kissing her. She could not think of anything else. She was afraid, but still curious. They didn’t say a peep until. “Give me your IDs.” “We don’t have any, we got in without IDs” Marla choked out. “Are you sure?” Grey knew full well they were lying about the IDs because he heard them before. “Yes. I promise” Marla said. Nate walked in with the car keys and motion for them to follow him. Neither Grey nor Nate had anything to drink. Nate decided to drive. He motioned for Marla to get in the front seat. She complied. Then Grey and Ava slid into the back seat. She got goosebumps because she was so close to Grey. She wondered why that would happen. “Marla, what is your address?” Marla gave Nate a fake address worried they would come back for Ava and herself. Nate trusted Marla and typed it in the GPS. “Are you guys’ serial killers?” Marla asked. “If you are, I will let you know right now. I am not going down without a fight. And I am pretty sure Ava can outrun you if her sleep.” Nate and Grey laughed. “No we are not serial killers. Why would you think that?” “Well, you kidnapped us, forced us to get into the car, and you are terrifyingly gorgeous. Both of you. They just laughed. Ava looked at Grey. He had been staring at her the entire time. Ava felt it. It didn’t feel scary though. It felt intensely s****l. In Grey’s mind he was thinking about all the ways he could make Ava his. He knew that she didn’t know what was going on. Although Grey knew that Marla was a werewolf. He could smell her. But for some reason he could only smell the mate bond with Ava. She didn’t smell like a wolf or a human. He could smell the vanilla and the cold fall day. He questioned what was going on. They arrived at the address Marla had given them. It was an old run-down house. “This can’t be your home?” Nate asked “Well, it is. Hopefully, see ya never.” Marla went to exit the car. “I told you that I was getting you home safely. This is clearly not your home.” Grey used his dominant voice. Ava noticed that she was tingling between her legs. Marla sat back down. And could not move from fear. She knew what Grey and Nate were. She was one herself. She knew that Grey was an Alpha and Nate was his Beta. It was her job to know. It was her job to keep Ava out of this world. She was worried that Ava would find out. Marla looked at Nate. She was thinking to herself please just let us get out. Please. Nate could tell that Marla was on edge. He knew that something was off. “Take us home Nate. If these girls can’t tell us where to drop them, we will just take them home with us.” Grey announced. Marla didn’t know what was more dangerous taking them to their homes or going home with them. If they went home with them Marla could figure out a plan to escape. If they took them to Ava’s home, they would know where Ava lives. Marla didn’t say anything. Nate started driving to the packhouse. Nate and Grey had grown up here their entire lives. Nate knew the way like the back of his hand. “So, Marla do you have something to tell us or are we continuing on our way?” Marla stayed quiet. Ava had fallen asleep in the back of the car. Her head slid onto Grey’s shoulder. Grey shuddered at her touch. For some reason he was wondering if Ava could feel the same things he was. When he looked over at her. He saw a small birth mark right under her ear. It was shaped as a pentagram. He recognized that from somewhere. He couldn’t place it though. They arrived at the packhouse, which Grey carefully called their mansion. Grey and Nate were currently the only ones residing in the packhouse. Grey was wealthy enough to give each family their own home. Usually if they brought in strays, they would stay in the packhouse for a couple days while a new home was prepared for them. Grey’s parents have been away on a second honeymoon since Grey took over as alpha. He didn’t expect them back for a long time. Nate’s parents died when they were 5. So, Grey’s parents took him in. Nate learned everything that Grey learned. Grey’s parents have always been fond of Nate, and they hoped that he would make a great Beta for their son. Grey woke Ava up to get her to come in the house. She didn’t wake. “Ugh she has always been such a heavy sleeper. Let’s talk about this while she is sleeping. We need to go home without you following because Ava’s life is supposed to stay werewolf free. Forever. Besides me obviously. I can’t tell you why and I won’t. Take me back to our car at the club and I will pretend like nothing happened. I will tell her it was a dream.” Grey was livid. He had finally found his mate after 26 years of life. He was not taking her home and he was definitely not going to allow some omega to tell him what to do. “In case you didn’t notice I am the Alpha hear. What I say goes. You will both stay her and I will keep my mate.” “Oh my god. Of course, that’s what this is. I should have known the second I saw you. Ava deserves better than you and a normal life.” Grey roared. He was insulted by Marla’s behavior. “Nate take Marla to her room. Get her settled and don’t take your eyes off of her for anything. “Please don’t separate Ava and I. She will be so scared when she wakes up if I am not there. Please, I apologize.” “Absolutely not, she is mine.” Grey’s Alpha aura came through. Marla backed off. She followed Nate to her room. Grey carried Ava to his bedroom. He set her on the bed and she snuggled right in. Grey’s room is black with gold accents. He had an en suite bathroom and two closets. He had redesigned this room so his mate could move in seamlessly. Grey was so excited to have met his mate. He had been looking forward to this for as long as he could remember. Grey gently untied Ava’s converse and removed her socks. He put one of his shirts on over her dress and then removed the dress. He climbed into bed and snuggled Ava as close as he could. He knew that he should have asked for Ava’s consent and would apologize in the morning. Grey couldn't help, but wonder why Marla said what she did as he fell asleep.
