SISINGAAN DANCE

371 Words
Sisingaan dance is one type of traditional art typical of Subang, West Java which uses a stretcher as a means of artistic creation. Along with its development, this sisingaan dance is not only shown in the hole, but this sisingaan dance performance has entered into one of the folk performing arts in the Cirebon, Sumedang and Garut areas.   In Cirebon itself, the sisingaan dance is often performed at certain events such as circumcision and marriage. Not only that, Cirebon sisingaan dance is also often performed by high school teenagers in traditional dance practice exams. As is usually done at SMK Negeri 1 Lemahabang Cirebon this side dance is one of the mandatory dances for men in fulfilling the traditional dance practice test.   Sisingaan dance is usually played by a group of people, especially young people, accompanied by traditional Sundanese music. The clothes worn by the players are usually taqwa clothes, kampret pants, head tags and waist tags.   This Cirebon sisingaan taria is sometimes often combined with acrobat art which forms a certain performance and synthetic art. The dance movements that are usually played by these sisingaan players are: igeul ngayun, gulingan, horses, jogging, kicking two, stepping back, literate cau, nincak rancatan, depok, solor, sesenggehan, genying, turning tactak, nanggeuy lion, lift jungjung, ngolecer, symbol, pasagi tilu, and kakapalan.   In the sisingaan game there are many artistic elements such as; dance, Pencak Silat and Jaipongan, musical arts, literary arts and fashion arts. All these elements combine and shine to form a dance. There are many values that can be used as references in everyday life in this side game such as cooperation, cohesiveness, order, and persistence. The value of cooperation can be seen from the existence of togetherness in preserving the cultural heritage of its predecessors. The value of cohesiveness and order is reflected in a performance that can run smoothly. The value of hard work and perseverance is reflected in the mastery of dance movements.   Hopefully in the future this sisigaan dance will continue to exist in the regions of the archipelago, not only in Subang and Cirebon. Let's introduce the cultural heritages that are almost extinct to our nation's young generations so that they can become the pride of this country.
