Bella sat there, alone at the back of the cafeteria while she read her book. The room was filled with lots of chatter. Everyone talked about the ‘new boy’ in the school. Most of the popular boys weren’t in there. Which meant one of two things. And for Bella, she could narrow it to the two reasons easily.
Reason one, they were getting a general gist and feel for the new boy, to see if he was worthy of their rank. Reason two, they were kicking his ass, or getting their ass kicked. Bella knew that one boy couldn’t beat up five. Bella decided he was probably becoming their friend. She lifted her hands up to put her black and blue hair into a bun. She zipped her black hoodie up and stood up. Bella walked towards the bins near her and threw her rubbish away. She grabbed the library book from her table and started to leave. As she opened the door, she heard a laugh from the boys.
“That was her.” Vince said.
“No, I am not interested in meeting poor people. I don’t want to meet losers either. I just want to finish school and lay low.” Logan said.
Bella rolled her eyes and continued walking out the door. The cafeteria door slammed shut automatically behind her. Their gaze saw Bella.
“Come on, everyone loves to pick on her.” Mitchell said.
“No.” Logan said.
Bella looked to her right and saw them in a corridor along the outside of the cafeteria. She walked away slowly.
“Why not?” Vince asked.
“I won’t bully an emo and make them kill their self. She clearly has too much going on.” Logan said.
His accusation made her angry. She stopped and faced him. Trying to stay calm, she failed and she spoke with hatred.
“Maybe you should tell the new boy to not make assumptions. He’s just an asshole with no brain and should learn his place.” Bella said.
She took off quickly. Unaware of the slight smile Logan had on his face.
“What is her name?” Logan asked.
“I don’t know, but she’s a feisty one. That’s why we love picking on her. Join us. We are going to hers tonight to egg her house.” Mitchell said.
“What are you? In primary school? You act like a child with a crush.” Logan said.
Logan walked to the end of the corridor near where Bella was and saw her turning the corridor at the other end.
“I’ll catch up with you.” Logan said.
“What’s your plan?” Vince asked.
“I’ll find her locker then write a note.” Logan said.
“What kind of note?” Vince asked.
“Pretending to be a secret admirer.” Logan said.
“You are going to break her heart.” Mitchell said.
He had a big smile on his face as he asked Logan. But Logan didn’t answer, instead, Logan followed her to the end of the corridor and saw her reach a locker. Surprising him, it was opposite his new locker. Logan went to his and opened it. He looked at her as he stood at his. Bella put her library book inside it. He noticed all the books on the portable shelfs she put in it. He was shocked. She must love reading. Bella got a text and looked at it. She unzipped her hoodie and revealed her shirt to him. It was a black fake ripped shirt with a barely able to be seen singlet underneath. Logan watched closely.
Bella put her earphones in and started to do a bit of a wiggle in her hips. Logan thought it was weird she was dancing in the middle of school. She wore clothes like she liked rock. Her black ripped jeans, her boots. Bella had the biggest smile on her face. Her clothes stood out more. As she turned around. Logan shut his locker and saw her. Her face dropped. He noticed her hazel eyes. Her freckles trailing her nose. He had to admit, he thought she was cute.
“I’m the asshole, nice to meet you.” Logan said.
Bella rolled her eyes and walked away. Logan tried to not laugh. He walked closer and grabbed her arm. Logan pushed her gently against the lockers. No one ignores him. He pulled out her earphones.
“In case you didn’t hear me, nice to meet you. I’m the asshole.” Logan said.
“I heard. Goodbye asshole.” Bella said.
Bella was about to walk out of his grip but was pushed harder against the lockers. Unaware the other boys were watching him. They thought he was doing this to torment her and they were holding back their laughter.
“So, stop being the bigger asshole and tell me your name.” Logan said.
Bella shook her head. Logan leaned closer to her face. He saw her turning red in anger.
“All I want to know, is the name of the girl who had the courage to call me out for being an asshole and making an assumption. Is that so wrong?” Logan asked.
Bella sighed.
“Bell.” Bella said.
“Bell? Like Isabell?” Logan asked.
Bella shook her head. The bell rang and Bella got out of his grip.
“Bell like the bell is about to ring.” Bella said.
Logan started to walk towards her but she was quick to evade him as she ran to class. Bella got into her art class and sat in the back of the art class. The class was about to start, the teacher walked in and pointed to Logan.
“We have a new student today class.” Mrs Birch said.
“Oh no.” Bella said.
“Don’t be rude.” Vince teased.
The boys laughed at Bella as Logan walked in. Logan’s gaze went straight to her. He had this wicked grin on his face and the boys knew that Logan was not done with her yet. She was now his personal task.
“Logan, I’m sorry about the unwelcomed greeting. But the only seat available is next to her.” Mrs Birch said.
The boys snickered as Logan smirked. He walked closer but Bella kicked his chair across the back of the room.
“Bella, stop misbehaving.” Mrs Birch said.
“Bella, huh?” Logan asked.
Bella rolled her eyes.
“That’s okay, I’ll have to sit on the desk. She broke the leg to the chair.” Logan said.
Pointing at the clearly dented leg. Bella rolled her eyes. Logan leaned against the desk he had to share with Bella. He could smell her cotton candy perfume and it was making him hungry. The boys saw him smirking.
“I’m sorry, Logan, please excuse her behaviour. She usually is well behaved.” Mrs Birch said.
“So is a bi*ch until it gets put down.” Bella mumbled.
Logan’s eyes went wide. Did he hear correctly? Did Bella just indirectly threaten the teacher? Logan looked at Bella.
“Face the front.” Bella said loudly.
