Lunch had always been just the two of them—Aicy dropping her tray onto the table, stealing Yuri’s fries without shame, making conversation even when Yuri wasn’t in the mood for it.
It was their routine, and it had never changed.
Until now.
It wasn’t sudden, but Yuri noticed it all the same.
Aicy had started spending time with other people more often, and Yuri knew that was just how she was—naturally social, effortlessly slipping into different groups. But this was different.
It was Lana, Mira, and Bea—the three girls who had recently started hovering around Aicy more than usual.
Lana was loud, always laughing, always pulling Aicy into random conversations.
Mira was quiet, observant, watching the interactions carefully.
And Bea…
Bea was the one Yuri noticed the most.
Bea lingered.
Bea was hesitant.
Bea looked at Aicy like she was something special.
Yuri realized it before Aicy did.
Bea liked her.
And today, Yuri watched as Bea carefully approached Aicy after class, a slight nervousness in the way she held onto the strap of her bag.
Aicy blinked at her, not expecting it. “Hey?”
Bea hesitated. “You—uh, you free?”
Aicy raised a brow. “Right now?”
Bea nodded, shifting on her feet. “Yeah. I was just thinking—maybe we could grab something from the cafeteria?”
Yuri wasn’t close enough to hear the rest of their conversation. She wasn’t trying to eavesdrop—she wasn’t.
But she watched as Aicy agreed, smiling easily like it was nothing.
And then watched as Bea’s expression softened, as if this meant more to her than it did to Aicy.
Yuri didn’t say anything.
Didn’t react.
But for some reason, something felt off.
Like a routine had changed. Like something that had always been just the two of them had started shifting without her permission.
And she didn’t know why that mattered.
