Chapter 7: Action
Gradually, Carl began to get the distinct impression that there was something big coming up for this group of pirates, whose name, he learned, was Riley’s Raiders. The overall energy increased noticeably—and so did the watching.
Armand, having made it clear that he was not in a position to tell Carl anything, became quite blank if Carl ever alluded to this. Carl didn’t blame his lover. Armand was, after all, a member in good standing, both of this crew and of the Time Pirates generally. Carl’s status continued to be somewhat indeterminate.
