Chapter 4

After 10 minutes of driving my stomach grumbles "Hungry, Moonflower?" I hear him say. His voice is calm, almost caring. I sit in silence and cross my arms. I am not admitting that I am in desperate need of coffee and something to eat.  I look out of the window as we drive past a small coffee shop and my stomach betrays me. The car suddenly breaks and we reverse back up the street into a parking space. "Come on, let's get breakfast, I can't have you hungry" he says with a smile. I'm still mad, but there is something about him, something that makes me want to go with him. He walks around the car and opens the door for me holding out his hand to help me out. I take his hand and it's like electricity surging through me I feel my whole body relax and he appears to do the same. 

"Mate" he says it's almost a whisper. I look at him puzzled he can't have just said that. We walk over to the coffee shop. I desperately want to feel his touch again. I cross my arms to stop myself reaching out. Once onside we sit not saying a word I look into his eyes. I swear I have seen these eyes before. Not just last night. The sun hits his face, he runs his hands through dark wavy hair and moves nervously. Is he nervous? Is it because I'm a human? I have all these thoughts running through my head, but I can't help but feel relaxed here. The waitress walks over to the table we are sat at and stands with a wide smile. She lingers on the man opposite for longer than I like. I grunt and she finally asks what we are having. "2 coffee's and 2 sets of pancakes" he charms, and with that she is gone. "I hope you don't mind me ordering for you Moonflower" he says rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm Jason by the way. Alpha of the pack Samuel is part of'' his smile is infectious and I can feel the corner of my lips start to pull up. "What can I call you" 

I try to be smart and with a smug loom on my face say "Dr Knight" 

"Ow okay, I like it all formal and professional" he gives me a wink and I'm done for I just melt no man EVER has done that! I can usually stand my ground but with him I have no chance. 

"I'm Sophie," I sigh, giving in. 

"Well Dr Sophie Knight tell me about yourself" he seems genuinely interested. 

"Not much to tell my parents passed when I was younger, so I grew up with my grandparents. I'm now a Psychologist working for an inclusion team in some company that I don't know much about." I look up to see sorrow in his eyes. All of that stopped, the second food was placed in front of us. 

I'm sure I looked ridiculous as I devoured the plate full of pancakes and drank my coffee.  It was exactly what I needed to stop the hangover. After eating in silence I look up to see a big cheesy grin. "What?" I ask puzzled

"You have some syrup on you" he leans in and wipes it from the corner of my mouth. I smile and lower my head looking up at him though my lashes. His touch makes me feel alive. Like the only thing that matters is right here. 

Jason POV

Just listening to her story has churned up so many emotions in me. The loss of her parents, having to grow up with her grandparents. I find myself wanting to know more. I feel like I have met her before today and our short encounter last night. When I look at her and the light hits her that raven hair just shines. It's going to drive me mad. I need to find out everything about her. I want to be involved in her life. As she finishes her pancakes I look at her and see a small shining patch on the edge of her mouth. I can't stop myself from smiling.  "What?" She asks me with a puzzled look on her face.

"You have some syrup on you" I lean in and wipe it from the corner of her mouth. She smiles and lowers her head looking up at me though her lashes. Our touch makes me feel alive. Like the only thing that matters is right here. That's the moment I know for sure that the Moon goddess has paired us for life, she is my mate. 

"Come on moonflower" I say as I stand and extend my arm to her "let's get you home"

"Oh, okay" she mumbles looking down taking my arm. We drive 6 blocks to her apartment the place I met her last night. As i pull up I know that I need to see her again. "So ummm" I clear my throat, "wouldyouliketogoonadatewithmesometime" I mumble. I have no idea why I am so nervous I mean I'm an Alpha I tend to get what I want. But women is a whole new ball game. Don't get me wrong I have had plenty of offers but I have never expected. 

I look at her, she has a massive smile "did you just ask me on a date?" 

"Yes, yes I did" I say trying to sound all confident but it doesn't come out that way. 

"Well you were kind of charming last night and at the coffee shop. I'm just a little unsure of the situation at the house in the woods" she lowers her head. My heart starts to race, she can't reject me, she doesn't even know who I am properly to her. "Samuel saved me from a very unpleasant evening and you looked like you were going to kill him" 

"I'm sorry let me show you the real me" I plead "I want you to see the real me and I want to learn all there is about you. Just please give me a chance"

"Okay " she beams at me "1 date, here is my number I am free next Friday" she climbs out of the car. It takes all my power not to jump out after her and Mark her right here and right now. I put the car in gear and pull off "you won't regret this" I yell to her as I drive away. Then it dawns on me I have to wait a whole 6 days to see her again.
