~Ava~
The hallway was empty. My heart was still doing that dumb jackhammer thing, milk carton clutched like a lifeline, cold condensation dripping onto my fingers. I let out this shaky breath that sounded way too loud in the quiet.
False alarm. House settling. .
I turned to bolt back to my room door which was literally three steps away and slammed right into a wall of warm chest.
Jax.
Of course it was Jax.
He didn’t even flinch. Just wrapped one arm around my waist like I weighed nothing, the other hand clamping over my mouth before I could yelp. Milk sloshed dangerously. His mouth was right by my ear, breath hot and smelling faintly of the same milk we’d both chugged like idiots.
“Shh,” he whispered, all gravel and menace. “You scream, we both get grounded for life. Or worse. Your mom will make us do family therapy.”
I bit his palm. Hard.
He hissed but didn’t let go. Instead he hauled me sideways, away from my door, toward the guest room at the end of the hall the one nobody ever used because the mattress sagged like it was depressed and the window stuck half-open. He kicked the door shut behind us with his heel. Click. Locked.
He finally dropped his hand from my mouth.
I spun on him, shoving the milk carton into his chest so hard it squished between us. “Are you f*****g brain-dead? You can’t just kidnap me in my own house!”
“Kidnap?” He raised an eyebrow, wiping milk off his shirt like it was nothing. “You slapped me twice downstairs and then ran like a coward. I’m collecting on the talk you owe me.”
“I owe you nothing except maybe a restraining order.”
He stepped closer. I stepped back. My calves hit the edge of the bed. Great. Trapped between a mattress and a psychopath in gray sweatpants.
“You gonna keep pretending?” he asked, voice low. Too low. The kind of low that made my stomach flip even though I hated him.
“Pretending what? That you’re not a walking red flag? Yeah, I’m committed to that bit.”
He laughed short, mean, the same laugh from the kitchen. Then he reached out, slowly , like he was giving me time to dodge. I didn’t. Stupid. His fingers hooked under my chin, tilted my face up.
“You slapped me,” he said, almost proud. “Twice. And you liked it.”
“Shut up.”
“Make me.”
I slapped him again.
Not as hard as downstairs more like a warning shot but the sound still cracked in the tiny room. His head barely moved. Cheek already pink from earlier. Now it was blooming redder.
He grinned like I’d just handed him a winning lottery ticket.
“Again,” he said.
“You’re actually insane.”
“Probably. Hit me harder, princess. I dare you.”
I stared at the handprint. My handprint. On his stupid perfect face. Something hot and ugly twisted in my chest anger, yeah, but also this sick little thrill that made me want to puke and climb him at the same time.
I raised my hand again.
He caught my wrist mid-air.
“Not like that,” he murmured. “Like you mean it.”
I yanked free and shoved both hands into his chest, hard enough he actually stumbled back a step. Victory. Except then he grabbed my wrists, spun us, and suddenly my back was against the wall, his body pinning me there. Again. Like downstairs, but worse because now we were alone. No fridge light. No escape route. Just him and me and the dark.
“You’re shaking,” he said.
“I’m pissed.”
“You’re soaked.”
“Stop saying that.”
“Stop lying.”
I glared up at him. He glared back. Then he leaned in like he was going to kiss me and I panicked because if he kissed me right now I wasn’t sure I’d stop him so I lunged forward and bit his collarbone instead. Hard. Teeth sinking in through skin.
He sucked in a breath so sharp it sounded painful.
I let go.
He looked down at me, eyes blown black. “Fuck.”
“Did that hurt?” I asked, voice shaky but mean.
“Yeah.” He sounded wrecked. “Do it again.”
I laughed. Actual laugh. Hysterical. “You’re so f****d up.”
“Says the girl who just bit me like a feral cat.”
I shoved at him again. He didn’t budge. Instead he dropped his head, nose dragging along my jaw, then down my neck, same as downstairs. Inhaling. Like I was oxygen and he was drowning.
“You still smell like chocolate,” he muttered against my skin. “And now you taste like violence. My favorite.”
“Gross.”
“Honest.”
His hand slid under my shirt again fingers splaying over my stomach, thumb brushing the underside of my boob. I sucked in air.
“Jax… ”
“Say stop and I stop.”
I didn’t say stop.
His mouth found the spot under my ear. Bit down.. I whimpered and I hated that sound coming out of me and my hands fisted in his shirt instead of pushing him away.
He groaned into my neck. “That’s it.”
I scratched down his back nails digging through cotton, hard enough I felt him arch. He hissed again, hips jerking forward so I felt exactly how hard he was. Jesus.
“You like that?” I whispered, trying to sound cocky but mostly just breathless.
“f**k yes.”
I did it again. Deeper. He cursed under his breath, voice cracking.
Then he grabbed my thigh, hiked it around his hip, slotted himself right there between my legs. The friction made my brain short-circuit.
“Goddamn,” he muttered. “You’re killing me.”
“Good.”
He kissed me then finally. All teeth and tongue and desperation. I kissed back like I was trying to win a fight. Bit his lip. He growled, hand sliding up my thigh, under my shorts, fingers brushing cotton that was embarrassingly damp.
He pulled back just enough to speak against my mouth. “Told you.”
“Shut up.”
“Make me shut up.”
I kissed him harder. He shoved my shorts aside, fingers sliding through slick heat, slowly at first, teasing, then pressing in with two fingers like he’d been waiting years for permission.
I gasped into his mouth.
He swallowed the sound.
“You’re so f*****g wet,” he said, voice rough. “For me. Say it.”
“No.”
“Say it or I stop.”
I hated him. I really did.
“Fine,” I hissed. “For you. Happy?”
“Ecstatic.”
He curled his fingers. I moaned loud, embarrassingand slapped my hand over my own mouth.
He laughed against my throat. “Quiet, princess. Wouldn’t want Riley hearing you come on my fingers.”
“f**k you.”
“Working on it.”
His thumb found my c**t. I bucked. He pinned me harder against the wall.
“Jax wait ”
He froze. Actually, I froze too. His Fingers still inside me but not moving.
“What?” he asked, voice tight. “Stop?”
“No, I… ” I swallowed. “I’m… I’m gonna. ”
“c*m?” He sounded smug as hell. “Yeah. I know.”
I glared. He smirked.
Then he started moving again slowly, in circles with his thumb, fingers stroking that spot that made my knees buckle.
I scratched his shoulders. Hard. Left marks. He groaned like it was the best thing he’d ever felt.
“Hungry,” he muttered suddenly, random as f**k.
I blinked. “What?”
“So f*****g hungry.” His voice was wrecked. “Been thinking about this since the kitchen. About tasting you. About making you scream my name instead of calling me asshole.”
I laughed, I couldn’t help it. “You’re ridiculous.”
“Yeah. And you’re dripping down my hand.”
He pulled his fingers out. I whined and he brought them to his mouth, sucked them clean while staring right at me.
My face burned.
“Sweet,” he said. “Like the chocolate. Better.”
“You’re disgusting.”
“Suck my cock.”
I grabbed his face with both hands and kissed him again. Tasted myself on his tongue. Salty. Humiliating. Hot.
He groaned into my mouth, hands everywhere under my shirt, squeezing, pinching, then sliding back down, shoving my shorts lower.
I pushed him toward the bed. He went willingly. Fell back onto the mattress with a grunt. I climbed on top straddling him, grinding down just to watch his eyes roll back.
“f**k Ava… ”
“Shut up.”
I rocked against him. Felt how hard he was through the sweatpants. He was leaking. I could feel the wet spot.
He grabbed my hips. “Gonna come in my pants if you keep that up.”
“Good. Do it. Embarrass yourself.”
He laughed breathless, desperate. “Evil.”
“Learned from the best.”
I leaned down, bit his n****e through his shirt. He arched so hard he almost threw me off.
“Jesus again.. ”
I did. Then scratched down his abs. He cursed a string of filth that would’ve made my mom faint.
His hand slid between us again fingers finding me, rubbing fast now. I was close. Too close. Legs shaking.
“Jax.. ”
“Come on,” he whispered. “Let go. I’ve got you.”
I bit his shoulder to muffle the moan. Came hard shuddering, clenching around his fingers, nails digging into his arms so deep I knew there’d be bruises tomorrow.
He kept moving until I was whimpering from oversensitivity.
Then he pulled his hand free. Licked it clean again. Groaned like he was starving.
“My turn,” he said, voice raw.
He flipped us so fast my head spun. Now he was on top, sweatpants shoved down just enough, c**k out thick, leaking, angry red.
I stared.
He caught me looking. Smirked. “Like what you see?”
“Shut up.”
He lined up rubbed the head against me, slow, torturing.
“Jax…..”
“Say please.”
“f**k you.”
“Say it.”
I grabbed his hair. Yanked. “Please, you arrogant dick.”
He pushed in with just the tip.
We both groaned.
Then
Creak.
Loud.
From the hallway.
We froze.
Footsteps. Real ones this time. Slowly . Coming closer.
Jax’s eyes went wide. “Shit.”
He pulled out so fast I gasped. Yanked his sweatpants up. Rolled off me like I was on fire.
I scrambled upright, yanking my shorts back into place, heart in my throat.
The footsteps stopped right outside the guest room door.
We both held our breath.
A soft knock.
“Ava?” Riley’s sleepy voice. “You in there? I heard… something.”
Jax mouthed “f**k” so dramatically I almost laughed.
I cleared my throat. “Uh yeah. Couldn’t sleep. Came in here to… think.”
Silence.
Then: “You okay? You sound weird.”
“I’m fine! Just go back to bed!”
Another pause.
“Okay… but if you need to talk…”
“I’m good!”
Footsteps retreated. Slowly.
We waited until they were gone.
Then Jax let out this long, tortured exhale and dropped his forehead to my shoulder.
“I’m gonna die,” he muttered. “I’m actually gonna die. I’ve never been this hard in my life. It hurts.”
I snorted. Couldn’t help it.
He lifted his head. Glared. “Not funny.”
“Extremely funny.”
“I hate you.”
“You were literally inside me thirty seconds ago.”
“f**k you.”
