Sorin's chest was a furnace of emotions rage, desperation, longing, and an overwhelming, blinding need. His body trembled, not with the cold, but with the force of the bond that connected him to his mate, the bond that had been pulling at him for years, urging him to find her, to claim her, to love her. But now... now that he had found her, his mate was rejecting him? "Why?" His voice cracked, the raw pain in his chest leaked into his words. "Why are you rejecting me? Why are you running from me?" "I don't want to......" Saying that his mate's gaze flickered away, and Sorin saw the tension in her shoulders, the way her body seemed to close off, as if trying to shield herself. He couldn't let it happen. Sorin stepped forward again, his movements becoming more urgent, more forceful, his hands reaching for the female, the very person who had haunted his every dream, his every thought. The female before him stood like a broken statue, trembling with fear, her hands raised as if trying to keep Sorin away. Sorin couldn't breathe. His mate's words... soft, pained whispers were like daggers being driven into his chest. Every word felt like it was shredding the very core of him. "I can't. I'm not ready. I'm broken." Broken? I'm broken. I can't be what you need. I can't..... I'm not… what you think I am. I can't be with you. "NOOO!!!" Sorin's body jerked awake with a scream that tore from his chest, raw and gut-wrenching, as though his soul had been ripped apart. His body was drenched in sweat, heart pounding erratically, a desperate thudding in his ears. He gasped for air, hands clutching the sheets beneath him as if they could somehow ground him, make the world stop spinning, make the pain in his chest easier to bear. The same nightmare had come again. Nine years. Nine years he had waited. Nine years he had led his pack through countless trials and battles, standing as the most powerful Alpha in the land. His pack respected him, feared him, loved him but even they didn't know the true weight he carried. They didn't know that while he held the title of Alpha, the mantle of leadership, and the might of his pack behind him, there was a hollow emptiness inside him. A void he had never been able to fill. His mate. The one person who could complete him, who could still the storm inside him, was still nowhere to be found. But every night, the nightmare clawed at him. His breath was shallow, frantic, as the images of his dream came rushing back. His mate, the one he had searched for, the one he had yearned for with every fiber of his being had stood before him, rejecting him. Fear in his eyes, pain in his voice, pushing Sorin away with every trembling step. "I'm not ready,' the voice had whispered, as broken and fragile as the dream itself. "I'm broken." The words pierced through Sorin's chest like a dagger, the bond between them thrumming with intensity as it pulled him forward, but the distance between them only grew. The ache in his chest was unbearable every step closer, the pain worsened, but no matter how hard he fought, no matter how desperate his need, his mate pulled further away, as though their bond meant nothing to him. He could still hear it. The way his mate's voice trembled with fear. The way he recoiled from the true blood alpha, from everything they were meant to be. Sorin let out a choked sob, his heart splintering in his chest. Why? Why was he rejecting me? The questions flooded his mind, each one more desperate than the last. But it wasn't just the dream. It was every single night. Every single night, the nightmare came, and every single night he sees his mate rejected him for some unknown reason, the pain eating away at Sorin's heart as he woke up gasping for air. He had reached the peak of his power. No Alpha was as feared as he was. His pack was unbreakable, his strength unmatched. He is a leader, a warrior, a king among wolves. But at the end of the day, what was the point? What was the point of all his power, all his achievements, if he could not find the one person who was meant to be his? The world feared him, but the one thing he longed for, the one thing he couldn't control, was still out of reach. He squeezed his eyes shut, fighting to control the panic that rose in his chest. He wasn't weak. He was a warrior, the Alpha, the strongest in the all packs. No one dared question him. Yet here he was, trembling in the darkness, alone in his bed, haunted by dreams he couldn't escape. The night was still and silent, the only sound the rapid thrum of his pulse in his ears. He reached for his phone on the nightstand, his fingers trembling as he glanced at the time ....3:14 AM. The silence around him felt suffocating. The very air in the room seemed to weigh down on him. Even the moonlight streaming through the window did nothing to soothe the storm inside him. It only reminded him of the dream...the silver light of the moon had illuminated his mate's figure, making him seem so real, so within reach. But he could never touch him, never hold him. The space between them was too great. Sorin groaned in frustration, his mind spinning. He had searched for years. His pack had traveled through forests and mountains, fought battles, and encountered countless enemies, all in pursuit of the one he had been destined to find. But no matter how powerful he was, no matter how many warriors he commanded, no matter how many victories he had under his belt, he still hadn't found his mate. He was The True Blood Alpha, the most powerful wolf in existence. And yet...he was still alone. The weight of that realization hit him like a physical blow. He had spent his entire life as the leader of his pack, the protector of his people, a force to be reckoned with. And yet, in the quietest moments, in the dead of night, the truth stung the most. He was still alone. No one could fill the void in his heart except for the one person he had been waiting for....his mate. But where were they? His fingers gripped the sheets so tightly his knuckles whitened, his body trembling with the aftermath of the nightmare. He had been so sure. So confident. He had felt the bond between them, had known in his bones that he was getting closer, that he would find his mate soon. And yet, every time he dreamed of him, it was the same cruel rejection. Every time, his mate was slipping further away. Sorin's heart was heavy with grief, an overwhelming, suffocating weight that made it hard to breathe. He thought bitterly. Why was I born for this? Why was I made to lead, to be powerful, if I can’t even have the one thing that matters? The leader of the most powerful pack in the world. The Alpha who had never been defeated. And yet, in this moment, with the nightmare still echoing in his mind, he felt powerless. Powerless to reach his mate. Powerless to make the rejection stop. A deep, primal ache settled in his chest, a gnawing emptiness that no amount of leadership or strength could fill. Where are you? He thought, his eyes stinging with frustration, with the weight of longing that had followed him for years. Where are you, mate?
