He couldn't take it anymore. The nightmare had broken him. He needed to feel the bond, needed to be close to the one person who could make him whole. And yet, the cruel reality that his mate still wasn't there made it feel as though he were being torn apart from the inside.
Sorin sat up in bed, breathing heavily, his body trembling with the remnants of the dream. He needed to do something. Anything. He needed to break free from the endless cycle of nightmares, to feel something, anything, that could pull him out of this endless void of longing.
He dragged himself out of bed, his legs unsteady, his body heavy with exhaustion and despair. But even as he stood, he could feel it....the tug of the bond. It was faint, distant, but it was there. His mate was out there, somewhere, and the thought of that made his chest tighten with urgency. He had waited so long. So long. But no matter how hard he tried, how powerful he was, he couldn't find him.
Why was it so difficult?
Why couldn't I protect him from this pain?
He paced the room, the silence of the night wrapping around him like a suffocating blanket. The words from the nightmare still echoed in his mind, that soft, broken voice. "I can't be with you.I'm broken."
The pain in those words was unlike anything he had ever felt. It wasn't just rejection, it was a shattering of the bond itself, a wound that couldn’t be healed with strength or leadership.
But as the leader of his pack, Sorin knew one thing: He would never give up. He couldn’t. The bond had always pulled him forward, and had always urged him to keep searching, to keep fighting, no matter how much it hurt.
No matter how many times he woke up from the nightmare, heartbroken and lost, he would never stop searching for his mate. Because he couldn't, he had waited too long for this.
And when he found him... when he finally found the one who was meant to be his...
He would make sure nothing could tear them apart.
Even if it meant fighting every fear, every doubt, and every nightmare that came with it.
No matter what it takes, Sorin vowed to himself, fists clenched tightly by his sides. I will never stop. I will never lose him.
His body moved on autopilot as he paced across the darkened room, his hands trembling slightly, each step heavy with the weight of his frustration. The pain in his chest was unbearable, but he didn't stop. His feet carried him forward, out of his bedroom, past the silent halls of the pack house, his mind a storm of swirling thoughts, memories of the nightmare, the haunting words his mate had spoken.
The house was silent as ever, the only sound of the muffled footsteps of his boots on the cold marble floor. His pack slept, unaware of the turmoil raging inside their Alpha. But he couldn't rest. Not tonight. Not after the dream, after the ache in his heart had grown so unbearable, he could hardly breathe.
Without a second thought, he left the pack house, striding into the night, the cool air biting at his skin as he stepped into the forest. The trees towered around him, casting long shadows under the pale light of the moon, but he hardly noticed. His mind was elsewhere far away, with the image of his mate, trembling, rejecting him.
The ache in his chest deepened as his wolf stirred restlessly inside him. Rin... His wolf's voice was low, filled with distress. Our mate... there's something wrong...
Sorin's heart skipped a beat. He knew it too. He could feel it. That gnawing sensation, the sharp pull in his chest that only grew stronger the further he ventured into the forest. It was a bond faint but undeniable that linked him to his mate, the bond that had always called him forward. But now, that bond felt stretched thin, as though it were being pulled by something dark, something dangerous.
What's happening to him? Sorin thought frantically, his wolf growling low in the back of his mind. The fear of his mate being hurt, the need to protect him, clawed at him with a force he couldn't ignore.
He broke into a sprint. The trees blurred around him as he moved with the speed and grace of his wolf, his limbs burning with the power of the transformation. His muscles rippled beneath his skin, and in the blink of an eye, his wolf took over, his human form dissolving into the mighty creature he was faster, stronger, with senses sharpened to an inhuman degree.
The wind whipped through his fur as he ran, his body a blur of motion, his heart racing with each passing second. But it wasn't enough. His wolf was wild, desperate, driven by the overwhelming need to find his mate. His chest tightened painfully as thoughts of his mate's rejection swirled through his mind. He could still hear that trembling voice, the words that pierced through him like a blade.
"I'm broken."
The words echoed through him, and the fear gnawed at his insides. His wolf howled into the night, longing to hold his mate, to protect him from whatever hurt he was enduring. The bond between them ached with each passing second, as if the distance between them was growing, stretching out like an endless abyss.
No, Sorin thought fiercely. I won't let this happen. I won't let him be broken, alone. He needs me.
His legs burned with the intensity of the run, but he didn't slow down. His wolf howled again, louder this time, pushing him forward, through the trees, deeper into the wilderness. He wasn't sure where he was going, but the bond was leading him. The pull of his mate was undeniable, a thread tugging at his very soul.
His wolf murmured, his voice thick with urgency. We're getting closer, Can you feel it?
Sorin nodded in the silence of his mind. He could feel it. That strange, suffocating pull. It was like his mate was somewhere just beyond his reach, on the edge of his senses, and yet... far away. So far that it hurt.
Hurry, We're almost there, his wolf urged.
The forest seemed to stretch on forever, but alpha didn't hesitate. His heart raced with anticipation and fear, a storm of emotions crashing within him. He couldn't help but think of the worst, of his mate being hurt, of the distance growing between them, of the pain his mate must have been feeling.
Every instinct within him screamed to protect. To hold his mate close. To wrap his arms around him and shield him from everything that hurt him.
The ache in his chest was unbearable now. It wasn’t just physical anymore. It was emotional, a raw pain that tore through him with every breath he took. I have to find him, he thought desperately. I have to make it stop. I have to make it right.
His mind flashed with images of his mate....eyes wide, filled with fear, his body trembling with rejection. Sorin's heart shattered each time the blur imagination replayed in his mind. But it wasn't just about the rejection. It was the fear that something was hurting him, something that was tearing them apart.
He slowed as he entered a small clearing, the moonlight filtering through the trees, casting a pale, ethereal glow over the ground. His senses went on high alert, his wolf growling low, the air thick with tension. His heart raced, the bond between them trembling, faint but there, as though it was waiting for him, urging him to go further.
He looked around, his eyes scanning the darkness. He could feel his mate so clearly now, so close. But still... so far.
Where are you? Sorin thought, his voice a whisper in his mind, his wolf's desperation matching his own. Please. Come back to me.
His wolf howled once more, the sound echoing through the trees, making everyone feel his presence in the forest and then he heard.......a small whimper, a muffled sound of crying.
They didn't meet 😓😓 Yet 🙃🙃
