The words hung in the air like a poison, thick and suffocating. Sorin's heart clenched in his chest, a surge of fury and sorrow washing over him. The thought of these unknown Alpha wolves slaughtering Jay's companions, leaving him to die alone, sent a wave of rage crashing through him.
"They thought I was dead," Jay whispered, his voice broken. " They... they left us behind, thinking I was already gone. They didn't bother to finish me off. I guess they figured I wouldn't survive the wounds. But... but I couldn't die there, not without... not without telling someone... someone had to know what happened. He has to know. He said the last sentence in his mind
Sorin's gaze softened, his hand gently squeezing Jay's shoulder as the boy's body trembled beneath his touch. He could feel the heat of Jay's pain radiating off of him, and it was unbearable. The boy had lost so much, and yet here he was, still fighting to survive, to make it through.
Jay's eyes fluttered open again, filled with exhaustion and a deep, haunting sadness. ''I don't know how, but I... I made it out. I ran... ran as fast as I could. I didn't care if they were still following me. I just had to get away. I needed help. I didn't know where to go, but I couldn't... I couldn't let them... let them think that I just died like that."
Sorin inhaled sharply, his anger flaring again, burning hotter this time. The image of Jay, young and broken, fighting for his life after losing everything, was enough to break even the hardest of hearts. His mind raced, piecing together what Jay had said.
Alpha wolves? That was something rare. For rogue alphas to target Silver Moon wolves... there had to be something more at play here, something bigger than just a random attack.
"You're safe now," Sorin whispered fiercely, his voice soft but determined. He leaned closer, brushing his thumb over Jay's trembling hand. "I promise you, those who did this will pay. You don't have to carry this alone."
Jay's eyes met Sorin's, and for a moment, the world seemed to fade away. All that remained was the weight of the boy's pain, the intensity of the shared connection between them. The bond that seemed to draw them together, despite the odds, despite the violence that had torn the boy’s life apart.
"I... I didn't want to die," Jay whispered, his voice barely audible, thick with emotion. "But when they left me, I thought... I thought it was the end. I didn't think anyone would come. I didn't think anyone would care."
Sorin's heart shattered at the raw vulnerability in those words. How could anyone leave this boy to die? How could anyone hurt someone so young, so innocent? His protective instincts, already raging, were now fully ignited. There was nothing....nothing that would stop him from making sure Jay was safe.
"You're not alone anymore," Sorin said firmly, his voice unwavering. Veins popping out on his neck. "You're here with us now. And we'll protect you. I'll protect you. Whoever hurt you, have to face my wreath. Their soul will cry to leave the body, but i won't let it happen."
Jay's lips trembled as he looked up at Sorin, tears threatening to spill. The weight of his loss, the trauma of what had happened, was almost too much to bear, but somehow, in this moment, he felt like he could breathe again. Like maybe....just maybe....there was hope for him after all.
Sorin's gaze never wavered as he stared down at the boy in his arms. His heart was filled with a mixture of fury, sadness, and something else...something deep and protective. He would not rest until those responsible for Jay's pain were brought to justice.
And more than that, he would make sure the boy knew that he wasn't alone, not anymore.
.......
It's been two hours since the pack house was filled with mummers. After sharing what happened with his friends,Jay was exhausted and slept right after more like lost consciousness.
"Are you sure about it, Rin? I think it's too early to do this. We still don't know much about this whole situation." Dorius's statement wasn't wrong though. Sorin has decided to take Jay back to his house as per his request.
His decision to take Jay back to his pack’s territory was not met with much opposition, but there was an undeniable tension in the air. Everyone knew that the boy would be safest under the protection of the True Blood Alpha, but the questions surrounding Jay's attack and the strange silence that followed left a gnawing sense of dread in their hearts.
Sam, Sorin's closest friend and the pack's third-in-command, stepped forward, his expression serious. I'm going with you, alpha," he said, his voice firm, yet laced with concern. "This doesn't sit right with me. We still don't know the full story. I'm not letting you go alone, especially with everything we've seen today.”
"We can't ignore the fact that the boy was targeted by other alphas. What if there's more to this? I'll come too. Just to make sure nothing happens."Jiun said, another trusted pack member, one of the most loyal and best warriors, stepped in, his tone equally serious. His eyes flicked to Jay, who was now starting to doze off in Sorin's arms, his small body trembling with the aftereffects of the trauma.
Sorin met their gazes, a flicker of uncertainty passing through his eyes. He hadn't wanted to put anyone else in danger, but he couldn't deny that something felt off. "Alright, you two come. But we’ll be discreet. The last thing Jay needs right now is any more attention. We'll get him home, and we'll keep it quiet." he said after a brief silence.
The group moved through the dense woods surrounding the Jeon pack's territory, their footsteps heavy, the moonlight barely penetrating the thick canopy. The silence was unnerving, broken only by the sound of leaves rustling underfoot. Every distant snap of a twig, every subtle shift in the air, felt like a threat.
Sam kept glancing at Jungkook, the tension between them palpable. "Sorin, seriously… do you really believe this was just some rogue attack? It's too clean. Too precise. It feels... planned. Jay's blood—it's not fresh. Someone knew he was coming."
Sorin's grip on Jay tightened as he adjusted the boy's limp body in his arms. Jay's small frame was burning with fever, but his shallow, labored breaths told him the worst: the boy was still alive, but barely. "I don't know," Sorin muttered, his voice low, filled with doubt and urgency. His mind spun with questions, fear gnawing at him. "But the second I found him… something felt off. It's like they were waiting for him."
Jiun, walking slightly ahead, let out a frustrated sigh and looked back at them. "We don't know if this is personal or something bigger. But someone made sure Jay couldn't make it back with a warning. And now… we've got no choice but to figure out why." His voice was tight, the frustration of uncertainty ringing in every word.
They pushed forward, the forest around them seemingly growing colder, the shadows deeper. Sorin's phone buzzed in his pocket, but he ignored it. He couldn't afford distractions right now...not when the scent of danger hung thick in the air. He needed answers, and fast.
"Can you focus on getting us to Silver Moon Pack's border, please?" Sam shot a look over his shoulder. "Because if anything goes wrong, we'll need to be ready. You know they’ve always been neutral, but that could mean anything now. They could be just as much a threat as anyone else."
Sorin stopped, eyes narrowing as he watched the boy in his arms shiver. The boy's small fingers curled into his shirt, his body so fragile it hurt to hold. Something deeper than compassion tore at his chest...a pull, an aching, raw instinct that made his heart race. The bond. It wasn't strong, not yet, but it was undeniable.
He met Sam's gaze, his voice firm, though it trembled with the weight of his words. "I'll do whatever it takes to keep him safe," Sorin said, his words carrying a fierce determination. "If that means going through the Silver Moon Pack, so be it. I'll deal with them."
Jiun nodded without hesitation, stepping closer. "Then we're in this together. No backing down. We've got each other's backs, no matter what."
The tension in the air was thick as they crossed the border into Silver Moon territory. The air shifted instantly...colder, sharper. Every step seemed to echo off the trees, louder than it should have been. Sorin's senses were on edge. He could feel the eyes of other wolves on them, hidden in the darkness, watching, calculating.
"We need to move faster," Sorin muttered, his voice low and dangerous, urgency sharp in his tone. He glanced at Sam and Jiun. "Jay's not in a good state. We don't know what's waiting for us, but we need to get him somewhere safe, now."
