CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Words That Matter
The next lesson started quietly, but there was a new energy in the air.
Aisha smiled more freely now, and Daniel noticed every subtle movement—how her eyes lit up when she understood a problem, how her laughter felt lighter.
“You’ve improved a lot,” Aisha said, pointing at his notebook. “I didn’t think you’d actually get this one right.”
Daniel laughed. “Thanks… I guess all that patience paid off.”
She tilted her head, her smile teasing. “Patience? That’s generous. I’d call it my brilliance.”
He shook his head, smiling. “Maybe. But it’s your guidance that made the difference.”
For the first time in weeks, words flowed between them naturally, without fear, without tension. Every glance, every laugh, every careful touch reinforced what they both already knew—they couldn’t deny this connection anymore.
As the lesson ended, Daniel walked her to the gate.
“I’m glad we’re… okay,” he said softly.
“Me too,” Aisha replied. “I think… I’ve missed this more than I realized.”
Daniel hesitated for a moment, then added, “I’m not planning on letting go again.”
She smiled, her eyes reflecting relief, trust, and something deeper. “Good. Because neither am I.”
For the first time in their unplanned love story, they both felt steady.
It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t simple. But it was theirs.
And sometimes, that was enough.
