đ CHAPTER TWELVE
The Photograph
Aisha arrived that afternoon with a small, folded piece of paper in her hand.
Daniel noticed immediately. âWhatâs that?â he asked.
She hesitated, then handed it to him. âItâs⊠nothing important. Just something I found.â
He unfolded it carefully. It was a photographâolder, faded slightly, showing a young boy and a girl smiling on a sunlit day.
âWho are they?â he asked, intrigued.
âFriends,â Aisha said quickly, tucking the photograph back into her bag. âFrom a long time ago.â
Daniel studied her for a moment. âYou seem⊠protective of it.â
She smiled faintly. âSome things are worth keeping safe.â
For a moment, silence settled between them.
Then Daniel spoke softly. âI donât want to lose whatâs happening with us, Aisha. Even if itâs complicated.â
Her eyes met his, wide and honest. âI donât either.â
It was unplanned, yes. Unexpected, yes. But the bond between them was already stronger than either could ignore.
As the lesson continued, Daniel noticed how her smile lingered when she thought he wasnât looking. How she leaned closer when explaining a concept, despite their careful distance.
Every gesture, every glance, every moment was charged with something they hadnât anticipatedâand couldnât deny.
When it was time to leave, Daniel walked her to the gate, but this time, he didnât speak. He didnât have to.
Aisha looked at him, a knowing smile on her lips, and both understood:
Some things couldnât be explained.
Some things simply had to be felt.
Unplanned love was here, and it was already impossible to ignore.
