š CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Silence Is an Answer
The next day, Aisha didnāt speak as much as usual.
Daniel noticed immediately. Her responses were short, clipped, politeābut something was different.
āAre you feeling okay?ā he asked gently, trying to break the silence.
Aisha hesitated, then looked down at her notebook. āIām fine,ā she said softly. But her voice lacked conviction.
He frowned. Silence wasnāt just absence of wordsāit was heavy, meaningful. And he could feel it pressing between them like a weight.
For the rest of the lesson, they worked quietly. No teasing. No laughter. No stolen glances. Just numbers and equations filling the room.
When the lesson ended, Daniel walked her to the gate.
āYouāre quiet today,ā he said softly.
Aisha smiled faintly, not meeting his eyes. āSometimes⦠silence is the only way to answer questions youāre not ready to ask.ā
Daniel paused. Her words settled like stones in his chest. He wanted to argue. To demand clarity. But he didnāt.
Some things couldnāt be rushed.
Some feelings couldnāt be forced.
And sometimes, silence itself was a messageāone that required patience, understanding, and courage to interpret.
As she left, Daniel realized something profound: unplanned love wasnāt just about bold declarations.
It was also about waiting. Listening. Respecting boundariesāeven when every part of you wanted to ignore them.
