Chapter 5: Syringe

***** Kirko was sleeping soundly, but suddenly he felt that he was being watched. He thought at first that maybe he was just dreaming. But he really felt that there was someone in his room. And that makes him wake up from his slumber. Kirko slowly opened his eyes, only to be shocked when he saw Chleo standing at the edge of the bed. "What the! What are you doing there?" Kirko exclaimed. Chleo snorted, then answered, "I'm waiting for you to wake up because it's time for your medicine." "You should have woken me up." Kirko got up to get his medicine from Chleo. "I've been trying to wake you up, but it seems that you are dreaming," Chleo remarked. "Yeah, I'm dreaming, but you ruined it," Kirko admits, then avoids Chleo's gaze. "I'm sorry for ruining your dream, sir. Drink your medicine now so I can leave you and you can continue your dream," Chleo sarcastically told Kirko. Kirko can't help but make a face before drinking his medicine. "That's not a dream, by the way. That's a nightmare." "Let me guess, you dream of Cheska? Oh! That indeed was a nightmare," Chleo commented, making Kirko laugh. But Kirko changed his expression to a serious one before saying, "No. It's you I dream of." "Really? What am I doing in your dream then? Am I holding a syringe like this?" Then Chleo got the syringe from her pocket and showed it to Kirko. Kirko's eyes widened. "H-hey! What is that? Don't dare inject me with that syringe." He tried to get up to run away from Chleo, but he still couldn't move his legs. "Why are you so afraid of the syringe? Don't worry, I will not inject this into you. Not for now." Chleo put the syringe back in her pocket. Kirko wipes the sweat off his forehead. "Are you trying to scare me?" "Of course not, sir. Why should I scare you?" "Nevermind. You can leave me now. I want to go back to sleep," Kirko said, dismissing Chleo. "Okay, I'll leave you now, sir. Dream of a syringe," Chleo gave Kirko a scary grin. "Argh! Just leave!" Kirko lay down in bed, then covered himself with a blanket. "Huh?" Chleo was about to walk towards the door when she heard something on the balcony of Kirko's VIP suite. "What's the matter?" Kirko asked, removing the blanket he covered himself with. "I heard something on the balcony," Chleo responded as she walked toward the balcony. "What?! Hey! What are you planning?" Kirko worriedly asked. "I'm just going to check if there's someone here." Chleo is about to open the sliding door. "Don't open it! Just call the security." Kirko suggested trying to stop Chleo. He frustratedly tried to get up, but still he couldn't. "Don't worry, I can handle this." Chleo got the syringe from her pocket again and prepared herself to open the sliding door. "Seriously? You believe that a syringe can protect you from a nasty guy or, worse yet, an assassin? Call the security or my bodyguards." "You don't get to tell me what to do, okay?" Chleo opened the sliding door. A man wearing an all-black suit and covering his face with a mask attacked Chleo the moment she opened the sliding door. Good thing Chleo underwent self-defense training. After deflecting the intruder's onslaught, she swiftly plunged the syringe into its neck. The intruder yelled "Ugh!" and fell to the floor still holding his neck. Then they passed out. Kirko was about to force himself to stand up to help Chleo, but when he witnessed how Chleo defeated the intruder, his mouth fell open, shocked at what happened. "Are you okay?" Chleo turned to Kirko after checking the intruder's pulse. "It should be me asking you that? Or maybe it should be; is he okay?" Kirko asked, looking at the unconscious man. "Don't worry, he is still alive. I will call the security of the hotel. And let them bring him to the police for interrogation," Chleo said, as if nothing happened. Chleo closes the sliding door before leaving Kirko in his room with the unconscious intruder. Kirko was left there in disbelief. "So, it means that the syringe is not just a prop? Hah! To think that she tried to inject that into me? I couldn't believe that! My family sent me here for my safety, only to be with a gorgeous but weird and scary nurse." He shook his head and couldn't help but smile afterwards. The security of the Santillan Hotel gets the intruder from Kirko's room for interrogation. Then they tightened the security for Kirko. "You can sleep now, Mr. Hanasawa. On behalf of the hotel management, I apologize for what happened, and rest assured that this will never happen again," Dred apologetically said to Kirko. "If this happens again, I will make sure that your hotel will pay for being incompetent. Good thing my private nurse was able to put that intruder to sleep," Kirko uttered. Dred said, "Thanks to Chleo, we caught the intruder, and nothing bad happened to you. Good thing she was not hurt either. I'll get going now, Mr. Hanasawa. I have to see if Chleo is actually okay." Kirko frowns upon hearing that from Dred. "Who are you to her?" He couldn't stop himself from asking. "I am her friend. That's why I cared for her. I'll go now," Dred excused himself. "He seems to care so much for her, huh?" Kirko mumbled as he watched Dred leave his room. He heaved a heavy sigh before lying down on his bed. "I guess my stay here won't be as peaceful as my grandparents thought." ***** Kirko, get back to sleep. While Chleo has to deal with the people she thinks are behind the attack on Kirko's room, it is her stepmother and stepsisters. "You are accusing us again? Don't you know that Mr. Hanasawa is here in our country because his life is in danger in Japan?" Zenaida said. She is sitting on the couch comfortably, not even bothering with Chleo's accusations. "Of course I know about that. But no one knows that he is here in our country. That's why it's impossible that the target of that intruder is him. And I will prove that it was you who was behind this assassination attempt," Chleo confidently uttered. "Well, let's see if you can prove your hunch, bastard," Zenaida said, raising her brow.
