Damien's POV I woke up the second time at five in the evening. Sophia was still asleep. On her side now, facing away from me, one hand tucked under her cheek, breathing in the slow unbothered way of someone who had genuinely let go of something. I lay there for a moment and just let it be true that she was here. Then I got up carefully and went to the kitchen because the responsible version of myself, the one Dominic had spent twenty years cultivating, understood that two people who had not eaten a real meal in approximately thirty six hours needed food before anything else.
