58 Toronto 1961 Birdie and I sat in Callaway’s office going through the Mendel Black witness statements. I hadn’t paid much attention to them at the time since it was routine to have some of the beat cops go door to door asking questions. Given that I liked Avrom for the homicide, I’d overlooked the basics. Shame on me.
