I waited for him to turn around, to say something, anything. His shoulders stiffened, and I could see the conflict. I wasn't looking into his eyes, but I could see how much he was trying.

"Nothing," he finally gave in and whispered, but who was he kidding. Did he think I was a fool to not know there was something wrong?
"Don't lie to me, Nathan. That just doesn't help anyone, now does it? Just tell me what it is. You have always told me everything I needed to hear. You have never lied to me before.
