Cressida's POV
“Larrisa..” I whispered trembling as I crawled to find a hiding place.
More screams tore through the night and before I could realize what was happening, the sound of my pack,my family being slaughtered like animals filled the entire space.
I crawled quickly, hiding under an oak table,my heart hammering and my wolf clawing at my chest like it wanted to break free but all I could do was clasp a hand over my mouth to stop myself from screaming as I watched.
I clenched my fingers into fists as the chaos unfolded around me. Smoke and fire filled the air and it was becoming difficult to breathe. I could smell burning flesh and the coppery scent of blood.
I shivered, crying silently as the loud thumping of my heart blurred out the screams.
I froze when I saw Fenrick through the blur of my tears. He was scrambling across the open space, his claws sinking into the attackers, his fangs bared out. His eyes swept the chaos, roaring with fury and panic but he didn't see me and I breathed a shaky sigh of relief.
I stayed hidden against the floorboards under the table trying to breathe as quietly as I could, trying not to give myself away.
“Move! Find her! Don't let her escape!” A voice growled somewhere to my left, deep and commanding.
I gasped. Were they looking for me?
The Bloodfang wolves were everywhere. They were organised, precise and very merciless. It almost looked and felt like they were rogue wolves.
They swept through the entire building, killing every living thing in sight.
There was a scream,a woman screamed as she pleaded with the attackers. “Please, let my son go!”
The wolves she was begging only laughed cruelly as one of them sank his claws into the little boy's chest.
I nearly gasped, almost giving away my hideout. I was scared, shaking and trying to stifle the scream that nearly gave me away.
I'd never forget the boy's wide eyes when the wolf dropped his body.
Then I saw my sister… she stood frozen in the center of the courtyard outside, her silver eyes wide, she could see me. I wanted to scream for her to run,to hide but I couldn't.
Suddenly a bloody wolf hand went through her chest from behind, she gasped and spat blood as the hand withdrew, taking her heart out of her chest. I almost screamed as her body sagged, dropping to the floor. The wolf didn't stop there,it sank its teeth into her neck. I covered my mouth with both my hands to stop myself from screaming.
My hands trembled violently,as tears quickly filled my eyes again, blurring my vision.
Then I heard my father's painful roar from somewhere above me. He had been fighting with the wolves. He had transformed into his Powerful brown wolf form that seemed to gleam in the moonlight. But I knew he couldn't win, because he was quickly surrounded and outnumbered quickly
I watched helplessly as he fell to his defeat, his body slammed into the ground with a sickening c***k by one of the wolves.
My mother's scream followed as she rushed towards my father's body but she couldn't reach him as one of the wolves' claws cut her throat clean and she fell next to my father's lifeless body.
The bloodfang wolves howled at the full moon outside.
Fenrick,he was still surrounded, snapping and growling at the wolves that surrounded him.
“Please…” I whispered. I don't know if I was silently begging those beasts or myself.
I wanted to run,to throw myself between him and those beasts but my body remained frozen under the table,my wolf whimpering in fear and agony. I could see the blood running down his arms, his eyes wild with rage and panic. And then one of them,a massive black-furred Bloodfang male…lunged forward, his fangs flashing and just like that Fenrick's head was torn off his body.
I pressed myself further against the floor, unable to cry anymore. I had to survive,I had to get out somehow. My chest hurt,my body felt weak. The screams around me seemed to never end,the images of all the horror I had seen pierced my heart.
“Find the little Omega!” a deep voice roared, commanding the wolves. “She can't have escaped!”
My heart stopped for a moment,it was me,he was talking about me! I could hear footsteps approaching carefully. My wolf snarled and the hair along my spine rose.
Shit! I should have left when I had the chance. There was no place to hide anymore.
And then suddenly…red eyes locked on mine. One of them smirked at me, crouching in front of where I was laying and another joined him with a cruel smirk. “Ah…there she is,” the first one said, his voice dangerously smooth.
I shrieked and tried to back away but he overturned the table I hid under and grabbed me by the arms.
My body quivered with fear as he hurled me into the center of the room and I realized I was alone, completely. There was no one coming to save me.
“Move,” the warrior commanded,as he grabbed me up to my feet before I could react from him throwing me across the room. “You're coming with us.”
I felt paralyzed as I looked at the horror around me, the bodies of the people I'd grown to know my whole life. The fire was spreading faster outside in the courtyard, smoke stung my eyes. I could see my father and mother's mutilated body. My Fenrick was laying lifeless and bloodied and two of the wolves dragged his body away.
The soldiers didn't speak much, they just barked curt orders to each other as they pushed me forward. Every step I took was a nightmare as the screams of my father,my mother,my sister and pack mates replayed in my head. Every replay was a memory of agony.
I stumbled over my sister's body outside in the courtyard. Her face was pale, her eyes wide with horror, a wide hole in her chest, her heart gone, her golden hair matted with dark red blood.
I felt useless,I had watched my family die and couldn't do anything. My body was still shaking and I felt the urge to pass out. I was suddenly thrown into an iron cage like an animal bought off the market for s*******r.
The metal bit against my skin. I slammed my pals against the bars wailing my sister's name as I repeatedly rattled the cage as if it would break and set me free.
As the carriage rode away and out of the gates, I watched as the fire consumed everything….my home,my pack, the life I once knew. I watched the fire erase every trace of it.
Through the smoke, I caught the last glimpse of our Pack's sigil and the stack of bodies piled and burning.
All gone, they were all gone
One of the wolves leaned against the cage, his hand gently brushing my cheek “hush now,” he said, his voice almost like a warning. “The Alpha will want to see you and he'll be very…pleased.”
I flinched at the way he had drawn out the word pleased. What did he mean by that? I pressed my forehead against the cold metal, tears streaking down my face freely,as I watched my home fade away
The only place I ever knew was gone but I made a vow, a silent vow in my heart
“I will survive,no matter what. I would not bow down to anyone,I would get my revenge even if it would be the last thing I'd do.”
