New York_ year 4025
Much had changed on planet earth from the destruction of 80% of the world, to the small towns that the survivors formed in recovery of; what would become known as Judgment Day. With strict laws for 1000 years keeping all people safe by staying within the town limits. A simple request from leaders who decided that to survive they should stay within arms reach of each-other.
A sentiment that over 1000 years grew to be a rule that stood even stronger than the 10 commandments. Yet boys will be boys and the curious Madelyn had convinced ken to venture out one night, past the borders of what was left of the New York settlement. Young and afraid Ken wondered in utter darkness with nothing but a small candle.
What seemed to be hours stumbling over rocks and the ashes of what once was the outskirts of New York. Ken finally made it to a strange cave, A chilling breeze almost took him off his feet but as brave and suborn as he was Ken ignored the goosebumps that ran up and down his neck. (I need proof that i was here) He thought as he took another deep breath before slowly entering the cave.
Candle wax dripping on the floor, the flame almost reaching Ken's fingers he only had a moment of fear for the loud thud before he was flung unconscious against a wet and slimy rock.
As Ken awoke he felt a tongue licking at his head and freaked out, hyperventilating so badly he wasn't able to scream. A stern voice called him to calm down and although Ken felt like he couldn't his body just reacted. calming down and his breathing suddenly evened out. " There there don't be afraid." the voice continued, leaving Ken suddenly trusting this strange voice.
The darkness made it impossible for Ken to see anything as his candle was finally out. His body would no longer respond to the fear that had now gripped his mind fully. For the first time in Ken's young teenage life he feared dying. The licking finally stopped as Ken was felt that he was lifted from the ground.
"I feel it in my bones it's been years since the world shifted on its axis, with few people only barley finding time for escape or shelter from the disasters. Oh how I remember it like yesterday.... Hard to believe its been 1000 years, I guess that slumber was more appealing than expected. However the taste of blood is sweeter than ever.
Anyhow back then there were only a few on every continent who survived, Each group thinking they were the last. I know you'r not the last, I know but you don't so you people slowly rebuilt the world with your so called leaders eager to erase the past... Thus leaving us here 1000 years later. you should thank those paranoid doomsday prepares; Guess no one is laughing at them now... Or... Maybe I am.
I was there when everything went belly up. I remember history, a world of tyrants and politicians, a world of money an war. Nothing like the darkness I will bring upon this town in the near future... like we said back in the good old days; you cant run from your past... eventually everything catches up to you. Karma is a b***h.
You see if your people remembered their history they might have stood a chance cause you see.My kind were mostly unaffected apart for loosing 90% of our food source the shift was nothing compared to our magic. After all you can't claim immortality if a little shift in the axis can wipe you out. So we adapted, enjoying a long and dark slumber we Vampires lied in wait for the cattle to grow..."whispered the calm yet stern voice from the darkness that filled the damp wide cave, at the edge of the town. Just before the echo of Ken's screams briefly filled the towns streets as the wind carried his agonizing cries across the town.
Yet life went on and the peaceful slumber of the naive town went undisturbed. Not even a murmur in their sleep. All slept blissfully unaware of the events, all but one....
The whispers, a hidden message to those who not only hear but listen as the words traveled like hidden notes in the wind. Waking a sole that lingered longer than time itself, a sole that lingered in the night walking while others decayed, A sole with no heart and no remorse.
Shana's eyes opened suddenly as she lied in her coffin resting from a long night's feed. She had made the world her ouster and being the only Vampire in town for 1000 years has left her with the driven need to hold onto her lustful power. Her freedom now in short supply, she knew that stern voice well, A familiarity she had hoped she was done with. Shana shed a tear as the whispers lingered in her thoughts. she lied deathly still in focus for a moment the first time in a 1000 years she felt fear, a feeling Shana promised herself she would forget.
"The Awakening has begun... Darius will soon be strong enough to leave his grave. Guess it's time to move on." Shana whispered before speeding out of her coffin and packing up a bag of her prized objects. She sped up and down her double story glass house leaving a tornado like disaster of her things as she grabbed only a few items that she held onto from the world before.
Her backpack was soon filled with a few bags of blood, an antique looking clock and a book that seemed to be even older than her. Shana then cleared out the house buy burning every trace of her presence there. "Wouldn't want brother expecting things from me me when he awakes now. Best he believe I lie lost in slumber. Him looking for my coffin should give me another decade at least." Shana Mumbled as she shoved her black, rather 'NCIS Abby inspired' coffin into the back of her dodge ram truck. She stood in silence for a moment as she watched a 1000 years of memories burn to the ground and then giggled at the irony that her truck and coffin inspiration were from a time even before then. Just as the sun rose from the edge of town edge Shana slammed her door and drove off.
