ALPHA CONAN I was about to leave the healer’s chamber after ensuring that Gwen was resting when I heard the healer’s voice calling me from behind. Her tone was uneasy, the kind that carried weight. I stopped immediately and turned to face her. Her eyes were sharp, and her face carried the seriousness of someone who was about to make a difficult decision. “Alpha Conan,” she said as she stepped closer, lowering her voice even more. “We need to talk. Right now.” I looked at her in silence for a moment, sensing that whatever she had to say was important. “What is it?” I asked, my voice steady even though I already felt tension building in my chest. “I saw what happened out there,” she began, her gaze never leaving mine. “I saw her glow. And I am not just talking about a trick of the light.
