I didn't look back as I gave the order.
"Rian, take her back. Now."
I could feel Gwen's eyes on me,confused and worried,but I didn't let myself turn. I couldn't. Not when the air had shifted like this. The forest had gone still and anger was lurking.
Something was out there.
And it wasn't friendly.
Rian hesitated for a second but then gave a sharp nod and gently took Gwen's arm. I heard her protest faintly, her voice still trembling but he coaxed her away, step by step, until I couldn't hear them anymore.
Good. She was safe.
