The two teenage figures had now arrived at their class and when they sat on the chairs next to each other, then Zeta told his friend about his dream.
About how he woke up in a room with night sky ceiling, then met a strange monster who claiming him as his dad, and how he finally realized that in dream his left foot was gone and the rest of it had been wrapped in a blood stained bandage.
What a nightmare
Lau, or whose full name is Fen Lau, listened intently to Zeta's story, if Zeta hadn't stated from the start this was a story about his dream, she would have thought that this is a fantasy story her friend told her right now.
She also realized how uncomfortable Zeta is when telling his dream, as if his friend is still afraid of his dream. But, dream's just dream right? Why Zeta still worried about his dream. Indeed Lau admits Zeta told it in great detail, Usually people will forget their dreams after 15 minutes after waking up. But why does Zeta still remember his very long dream story?
"Dude, you sure that wasn't dream?" Lau asked a little hesitantly.
The boy with the last name Midnight shut his eyes tightly before nodding, "Yes, what else would it be."
"Exactly, Then why are you still worrying about this dream. It was just a dream Zizi, sleeping flower. You know that we always keep dreaming about something random." she said as a matter of fact.
'But I can still feel his touch until now, is that even normal?' Zeta just let the question remain in his mind.
"I guess you're right." he finally said.
Lau nodded in satisfaction, but suddenly her brows furrowed, "Are they home, yet?"
Silence is the answer she got and that was enough for Lau.
"Come on, don't think about it. Moreover, that dream, it's just a dream, it has nothing to do with the real world." Said the girl with two bun hair to make her friend a little calmer.
Zeta smiled and mumbled thanks under his breath.
After all, Lau was right. Dreams are dreams, why should he worry about that strange dream?
Before the teacher show up, Lau and Zeta spend their time watching horror movies on Lau's cell phone.
................................................................
A small chuckle came out of his lips as he became the first person to finish test and get a perfect score! After changing his clothes in school bathroom, he walked happily out of school.
Well before the day gets dark it's better for him to buy street food because damn he's so hungry. He went around to stalls on the street buying some foods until suddenly rain started pouring from the sky.
Zeta cursed under his breath, and almost immediately a loud sound of lightning strikes could be hear by everyone.
Reflexively, Zeta muttering 'sorry God' before run to a safe place. He finally found a cafe nearby, and decided to stay for a while until the rain stopped. He took a seat next to a large window that presented an outside view, he put his bag on his seat and trying to relax.
"What do you want to order sir?" Asked a waitress kindly to him. Zeta replied with a smile before ordering, "Hot chocolate with marshmellow, please."
The waitress nodded and Zeta thanked her. He'd never tried drinking milk with marshmellow in his life, so this was a rare opportunity for him. He took out a notebook from his bag and decided to draw a view of the cafe while waiting for his order.
He was too busy scribbling on his books to not notice his order had arrived, but the waitress who noticed it gently patted Zeta's head. With a blush on his face he thanked the maid again who only chuckled at his shy attitude.
'Aww, this kid seems innocent.' luckily Zeta don't have mind readers power, or else he would be fluttered mess.
His eyes lit up with joy as the hot chocolate mixed with marshmellow entered his throat. With a smile on his face, he chewed the white topping while continuing to scribble on his book.
Zeta who is enjoying his time feel that he's being watched after the waitress gave him his order. He looked up from his notebook and realized there's a man(?) who is staring at him from across two tables.
Zeta is confused why the man kept staring at him, but he decided to ignore it because maybe the man was daydreaming. So he gave a genuine smile to that man who was still expressionless (if his guess about daydreaming is wrong).
After that Zeta returned to his activities. He look at his drawing, which turned out to be much better than he had imagined. Smiling proudly at his work, he stowed his book in his bag and resumed his drink.
Unbeknownst to him the man wasn't daydreaming at all, and he flinched that hardly anyone noticed when the boy smiled at him. A smile that make him want to see it again. Under his breath he uttered a single sentence.
"Mine."
.........................................
"—ta, Zeta!"
Wha..what?
"Zeta wake up you lazy human!"
Lau's shrill scream make Zeta wake up from sleep that he didn't even realize that he had fallen asleep. Wasn't he in the cafe alone, then why was Lau suddenly here?
"Lau, I didn't pay for you. Get your own money 'cuz I'm broke." he muttered still sleepy from his sudden wakening.
Lau looked at Zeta who's still leaning on her as he's a crazy person, the heck happened to his friend. "What are you talking about? You know what, don't answer me after you made me carried you across the hall."
A yawn escape his mouth as he proceed Lau's words. Hall? What hall?
"Aren't we in cafe?"
Lau let out a long tired sigh, "This is why I should stop you from napping in class." she mumbled. "We're not in cafe Zizi, in fact, me now is walking you to your house because what?"
"......wut." Zeta's half lidded eyes looked at Lau lazily.
"Because I'M A GOOD FRIEND, and I love you so much to not leave you alone in class." Lau looks annoyed knowing Zeta is still sleepy to understand her words. She's indeed a good friend, but not a patient friend at all, but for Zeta alone she will be patient.
"Ouwh.....so that was a dream huh. Strange." Zeta really couldn't believe it was a dream, and just like before this dream felt real. Damn, he hasn't paid for his hot chocolate, that waitress deserve a tips.
"Yea Azi, that's what happened if you took a nap in the middle of our lesson."
"Will you stop by the nicknames already?"
Lau grinned evilly, "Nope!"
"Figured."
"Oh come on now Zizi, you know that it's a consequence for stuck with me all these years." Zeta replied with snort, but he's not denying it which make Lau smiling again.
Lau finally went to her own house after dropping the black-haired boy to his house, he actually doesn't want to bother his friend by taking him home but Lau is the most stubborn human he has ever met after his sister. The girl never accept no as an answer from him.
Zeta lazily changed his clothes and then took the moldy bread from the cupboard and bit it in one big bite. After chewing the bread and drinking a glass of water, Zeta went to his room and took a small book from his bag.
At first Zeta didn't want to write his dream at all because it was so troublesome, but after experiencing a different but real dreams in one day, he couldn't help but write down his dream experience in his little book.
His hand nimbly wrote the date and then wrote a full paper about the dreams he had. He wasn't too sure about the second dream, because he remembered that he never fell asleep in class because he knew how important knowledge was. But Lau had told him that, so maybe it was because he was exhausted from thinking about the first dream he had during class.
If the first dream feels random, it is different from the second dream which almost has the same plot from his real life. And another reason he wrote this dreams was because a small voice in the corner of his head is telling him to do this for his sake in the future.
And Zeta had learned from a long time to never ignore the voices in his head.
Even sometimes they always whispered some crazy stuff.
Time quickly passed.
Evening turned into night, and night turned into morning.
Now Zeta is doing the same thing as the previous day which is walking to school. If as usual he will be accompanied by his chatty girl friend, it's different now,
he just walk alone.
Earlier this morning Lau sent him a message.
'ZETA IM SO SORRY, PLZ FORGIVE YOR CUTE FRIEND BCUZ—'
Yea.
That's it, just that one sentence without any explanation what is up with her. For some reason Lau didn't continue the message and left it hanging.
Zeta didn't reply her message because maybe Lau had a reason for sending him that message (or maybe the girl was taking revenge on him for making her carried him way to home).
And to be honest, Zeta feel a little happy because he doesn't have to listen to Lau's chatter that sometimes makes him wonder why Lau didn't look tired after talking so many words in one minute.
Okay maybe he's lying, Lau's absence make him feel uncomfortable because he used to hear Lau noises.
With mixed feelings Zeta walked to school, while listening to a song through his earphones that made his upset feeling slowly fade away, now he walks leisurely with the occasional small hum.
But he noticed something strange, he feel like being followed again, just like yesterday and he knew his feelings were always right. So he pretended to play on his phone after he turned off the music.
And sure enough, as he expected, in the morning with the dark sky and the streets deserted of people, he heard footsteps not far from him.
At first the voice sounded faint, but after concentrating he finally heard clearly the footsteps following him. In his mind he counted to three before preparing himself to run as fast as he can.
After the voice in his mind said three, he immediately ran without looking back. His anxiety increasing when he heard the footsteps running after him. He kept on running, praying that he wouldn't be caught by whoever is chasing him no.
But he knew that in the end he would be exhausted due to his weak stamina and physique.
So he used his last energy to run as fast as he could. He glanced back to make sure that the stranger who was running after him had lost track of him. And how grateful he is when he did not see the figure anywhere, but still, there's still a possibility that the person is still chasing him.
Zeta immediately hid behind the alley while controlling his panting breath. His chest started to feel tight which caused his head to feel dizzy because his air supply was running low and it caused him to fall because he was no longer able to stand up.
But before his body hit the ground, something held him back. Or rather, someone was holding him from falling.
His breath hitched, and his chest hurt even more. His heart rate increased even more when he felt someone's breath right behind his neck, he couldn't hold back the tears that flowed down.
And what make him freeze, a strangely rough fingers brushing his tears away.
His breath was getting tighter and tighter, and Zeta could only curse for having a weak body like this.
His eyes widened when he felt something stabbed him in stomach.
"I found you, my little doll." words was whispered right next to his ear.
Zeta doesn't know which one is worse at this moment, an unknown man held him tightly or a knife piercing through his stomach.
And with that Zeta find himself woke up.
