Sadie POV

Stepping off the plane i walk in to the airport, It was late afternoon in New Orleans I've been on three different planes  two lay overs and 1 delay and a total of 48 hours just to get home. I look over and see my dad waiting tears in his eyes and a smile on his face, i run up to him his arms open and grab me in hug holding me tight like he couldn't believe i was really there. "Oh my Sadie Jo i cant believe you are finally home"  He looks down at me and smiles . "Wheres Ray at?" I say looking around for my little brother.

"He had to work tonight at the docks he tried to get off but old Mr Jones wouldn't let him." I nod my head and loop my arm threw his as we walk to get my bag from luggage. Tossing my bag in the back of the truck and jump into the cab of dads pick up. i roll down the window as we drive home. It took about 20 minutes before dad pulled up in front  of MaryAnns restaurant. Dad looks over at me "Figured you would be hungry and i know how much you love your Jambalaya and po'boys  and hell girl lets get you a hurricane." I smile yep dad knew the way to my soul Cajun food and hurricanes 

As soon as we walked into the restaurant it erupts with welcome home and applause, shocked by the welcome home surprise party i look over at my dad who is standing next to Ray  who is now running and lifting me in the air in a bear hug my little brother isnt so little anymore at 18 he stands at 6 foot and build like a house. He sits me down on my feet "Look at you soldier girl" he tugs on my uniform jacket.  I smile at him and give him a small push. ive missed him, the band starts playing i look around and see old friends and family and two new faces come up beside Ray a blonde girl who wraps her arm around my brothers waist and a tall guy with dirty blonde hair he had to be at least 6' 3".

"Sadie this is Hannah my girlfriend and Haden her brother also my best friend" Ray smiles at me. Hannah caught me off guard when she hugged me "Its great to finally meet you Ray has told me and my brothers and our parents so much about you."

"Its nice to meet you to Hannah and Haden " i say as i shake Hadens hand he smiles and greets me back. I learned a lot about Hannah the girl liked to talk, Haden and her are twins and graduating with Ray in two months. they have an older brother Collin i think she said his name was hes 23 and their parents they all moved her a year and a half ago from Montana. they live a mile or so away from us. 

the time passes and one plate of jambalaya , a brisket po'boy and two hurricanes later we are headed home to the bayou. sitting on my bed after changing into shorts and tshirt for bed i stare at my uniform laying on the chair. Holding the metal i received before i came home in my hand 'Knock ,Knock' Dad pokes his head in "Hey kiddo can i come in" i nod he sits on the bed next to me . i look over his grey eyes shinning as he looks at me "so kiddo how long you home for , i wanna make sure i can spend as much time as i can wit you before you ship out again." I smile i havent told my dad that im done and out of the army now." Im home for good dad honorable discharge." i hand him the metal i had been holding.  He smiles at me and grabs me in a hug "Well im glad to hear it, ill let you rest you had a long day." he kisses my forehead and tugged on my messy bun as he walked out of my room "Its good to have you home Sadie'" he said as he walked out the door. i look on my end table of a picture of me and my mom sitting with an alligator i saved when i was 7, i was 12 in the picture it was taken before mom died. Bo is what i named the gator i nursed him back when he was a hatch-ling he was separated from his mom, when he was around 6 foot we had to release him back into the swamp but that didn't stop him from coming home he wasn't aggressive to humans i would be able to walk down to the swamp and call his name and he would come to me. ive always had a special connection to animals, thats why i studied marine science to help these animals.
