Chapter 2: Obedient Little Angel

922 Words
No backbone! No dignity! No sense of responsibility! These three sentences will absolutely not exist in Salem Glover's life dictionary! However, the words in the voice and tears spoken by this woman are filled with despair, and it is certain that she is not speaking without thinking. Suddenly, a dreadful idea came to Salem Glover's mind. His rebirth was a rebirth in a parallel world! However, in this parallel world, the other Salem Glover is a waste! His life path is completely opposite to his own! In that world, Salem Glover is the god of war. Although he sacrificed himself in missions, he singlehandedly fought against three elite teams of a terrorist organization, killing dozens of their members. He saved hundreds of his compatriots and comrades! At the critical moment, he would rather die with his enemies than surrender. How could such a person be a scum without backbone, dignity, or responsibility! "Dad, Mom, don't argue!" The little girl standing on the side suddenly burst into loud sobs and threw herself into Salem Glover's arms. "Mama is bad, Dad didn't scold you, don't scold him..." The little girl hugged Salem Glover's neck, looking pitifully at the woman, and said, "Dad is the best person in the world, I don't want Mama, I want Dad!" Her tears wet Salem Glover's clothes, making his heartache. "Emily, be good." Salem Glover comforted the girl in his arms, then looked at the woman who was also silently shedding tears. He took the documents from the woman's hand and saw the name "Robin Morales" clearly signed in her section. "I'm sorry, it's my incompetence that caused this situation today. I apologize for what I've done," Salem Glover sincerely said, his gaze clear and determined. "But Emily cannot be taken away, I will take up the responsibility of being a father!" The woman's body trembled slightly as if she had caught a hint of something unusual in Salem Glover's eyes. Quickly, she shook her head self-mockingly, "I can't believe I was moved by you. Salem Glover, even at this point, you still have to act in front of me." "I am not an actor, I didn't plan this scenario," Salem Glover smiled, "If you don't want to, we'll see each other in court." "Fine, fine!" Robin Morales clenched her teeth, her silver teeth biting down. "Salem Glover, we'll see each other in court." "Well, in that case, you can go back first, I want to talk to my daughter." Salem Glover picked up Emily and prepared to walk back to the room. "Are you driving me away?" Robin Morales glanced at Salem Glover, her eyes filled with anger, "I'm the one paying the rent here, if anyone should leave, it should be you!" "Huh?" Salem Glover was taken aback, instantly losing confidence in his heart, "Otherwise, can you make some space for us?" "Dream on!" Robin Morales took a deep breath, restraining her anger, "Salem Glover, I'll give you one day to consider." Saying that she picked up the documents and walked out of the room. The door slammed shut with a loud bang as if it were an iron gate blocking Salem Glover and her from their lives. Salem Glover smiled helplessly, carrying his daughter around the rented house. This rental apartment only had one bedroom and one living room, with a total area of less than forty square meters, but empty alcohol bottles could be seen everywhere. Seeing Salem Glover's complicated expression, Emily hurriedly wriggled out of his arms and took the initiative to tidy up the empty bottles. "Daddy, Emily has been lazy these days and didn't help you clean, please don't be angry." Emily held two chubby hands, each holding a bottle, then scampered to the balcony. In a short while, she ran back to continue. Salem Glover followed her to the balcony and saw beer crates stacked in a five-square-meter space, there were at least twenty or thirty of them. Some of the crates were piled up to Salem Glover's chest. "Emily, did you do all of this?" "Yes." "Why did you stack them so high?" "We have chairs at home!" Emily giggled, as if stacking beer crates was a very interesting game. Salem Glover took a deep breath, feeling a pang in his heart. He put the bottles in his daughter's hands aside, and then carried her. "Emily, you can't do these things anymore in the future." "Why?" Emily tilted her head, looking very puzzled. "Because from now on, you will be Daddy's little princess!" Salem Glover hugged Emily and sat down on the sofa, then rolled up his sleeves. "You sit here and watch TV obediently, Daddy will do a big cleaning today." "Daddy, we don't have a TV at home." "Then... you can read a book." Salem Glover forced a smile. "Okay." Emily ran to the room and took out a tattered children's book, sitting back on the sofa, engrossed in reading. The book had been flipped through countless times, the cover was faded badly. Salem Glover's heart was filled with mixed emotions, and he clenched his fist tightly. By noon, Salem Glover finally finished cleaning the entire house. There were a total of seventy boxes of empty bottles and more than a dozen large plastic bags full of various garbage and waste. Although the house remained simple, it became more spacious and tidy. Salem Glover leaned on the sofa, gasping heavily with exhaustion. His body was too weak, in the past, he would work until dark without getting tired.
