1011 Words
When Susan comes out from the doctor's office, she sees Bob waiting right at the antenatal stand and in great amazement, she walks up straight to meet Bob, asking, "What are you doing here?" Bob smiles and says, "I have come to keep your company and assist you where need be." Susan tells Bob, "I am done. I have seen the doctor and it is time for me to leave." and Moreover, Bob responds, "Ok! Let me take you home. Lest I forget, have had anything to eat?" Susan answers, "I have not really had anything, apart from the light breakfast I had and I am very famished right now as if something is eating me up in my stomach." Bob had long had an intention to talk to Susan decides to lay hold of the opportunity by suggesting to Susan, saying, "Let's go have something to eat." Susan did not hesitate but accepts Bob's invitation to go eat." Susan enters Bob's car, as Bob drives, but they were both silent, as Susan did not even talk to Bob, though Bob itches for a talk. Susan and Bob arrive at the restaurant, as Bob parks his car, he opens the door of the car and motions toward the position of Susan's door and opens for her. Susan comes out sluggish, as Bob tries assisting her, but she refuses, saying, "Never mind, I can help myself." Susan and Bob eat in silence still, as they eat, Bob is keenly watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to break the silence, because of the kind of food that Susan ordered. Susan ordered the kind of food she ordered because of the lecture she got from the hospital in the course of the antenatal briefing. Bob is keenly watching in stillness because of the way Susan rushes the food she is eating. Susan notices Bob watching her, immediately, she stops to look at him and catches his gaze on her. Bob is been thinking about how to start up the conversation on how Susan lost her mother and how her father disown her because he wants he seems to have a concern about Susan's wellbeing, even when he does not want the baby Susan is carrying for him. Bob starts by asking Susan, "What procedure did you go through is your first time in the hospital, visiting for antenatal care? What did the doctor say?" Susan replies, saying, "Not much, I just went through the process of carrying out some basic tests. Moreover, they measured my height, weighed my weight and read my blood pressure. After which I attended the antenatal classes, where we were taught a lot of things, like understanding the changes in various trimesters, which is made up of the first, second and third trimester. I am finishing my first trimester and entering my second. This means I am in the last phase of my first trimester that is my third month in pregnancy. I learnt a whole lot and I am glad, I heed the counsel of my friend Lucy." Susan is seriously enjoying Bob's company because Bob seems to be giving her attention, but Susan wishes Bob will just ask, "How is the baby doing?" Bob ask Susan, "When is your next appointment with the doctor?" and Susan answers, saying, "Next month is my appointed schedule with the doctor and it is the beginning of my second trimester." Bob uses the opportunity to ask Susan, "Why did you travel without my consent?" Susan hearing Bob, asks, makes her feel good because she feels Bob is beginning to have a sense of responsibility and concern. However, Susan flares up, saying, "You have the right to ask me that! Who do you think you are? I have to report myself to my parent after you deceived me. I had to go tell them that I am pregnant and seek their parental advice because at that point, I felt lost and you weren't helping matters with your heartless suggestive opinion to terminate my baby, your baby. How dare you even think of killing a child because of your selfish drive to satisfy yourself, even when you have your legitimate family somewhere. I wish I never fall for your help because helping me was a trap that caught me and I wish I can turn back the hand of time. " What about me?", Susan asked, "Have you thought of how I feel? It has always been you and you and you." Susan's voice was rising high with her expression full of rage, while Bob swiftly hold her hand calmly and whisper gently to reach her heart of heart like a cool breeze. "Sweetheart, calm down", Bob says, " I am trying hard to make things right and I don't intend a fight. Please, help me to get this right this time around." Susan interrupts, saying, "If you want to make things right and you truly want to, start with your baby. Why do you hate a baby that you have not seen? What if this baby becomes your only last hope? Is this baby different from the ones you have in your house? Do the ones you have in your house, have blood running in their veins and this one will have water? Therefore, why the disparity?" " Bob, you can see for yourself why I call you heartless and all the names. I am not a preacher to preach to you, but you have to repent and put me into consideration." Bob bows his head in shame, not knowing exactly what to say, as he finally says to Susan, "I'm so sorry for everything you have accused me of, I take responsibility for all you have gone through and I am sincerely sorry." Bob and Susan leave the restaurant to Lucy's house, where she picked up her things and they head to her house. Susan drops from the car and walks into her house without Bob and he watches her as she walks into her house and locks up the door.
