Rhys's POV
The monitors flatlined and I heard Lena scream my name from somewhere far away. Everything went white, then gray, then quiet, and for a while there was nothing but the sound of my own blood rushing in my ears like a bad signal.
I did not feel the crash cart, did not feel the compressions, did not feel the shock that lit me up from the inside out.
I felt her hand.
Cold fingers wrapped around mine, holding on tight, her voice breaking over and over.

I wanted to answer, could not find my mouth, could not find my lungs, could only drift.
