Chapter 10

“He was so very quiet when he first came here. I never seen him talk unless when he was with Reasee,” the nun from the orphanage said while refilling the princess her tea. “Reasee? Who is he?” the princess attentively asked as she listens. She was with the nun right now discussing about the donation and upcoming events that they would do for the orphans. Liriel was waiting outside the room. “Reasee’s his best friend here in the orphanage. During his batch, he’s the only one who could understand him.” “Where is Reasee now?” if she could find Reasee then she could be able to ask someone more about Liriel. Despite of their past and her blossoming feelings towards him, she should know about his intentions. Her mother, the queen, already warned her. She’s the princess and the next in line for the throne, after all. “The last thing I know, princess, he was with Liriel serving as knights in the palace.” The princess reached for the tea cup and took a sip from it. If Reasee is a knight in the palace then it would not be difficult to approach him, the princess thought. “Oh, thank you, Mistress Jas.” The nun smiled at the princess. “It’s a pleasure to talk to you, princess.” The nun and the princess were now standing and hugging each other. “Thank you for visiting us today, Princess. It is really a pleasure to have you here.” The princess grabbed the nun’s hands and smiled. “I’ll come back here again, Mistress Jas. It’s always nice to see the children smile.” The nun smiled back. “It is because of you, Princess.” The princess let go of the nun’s hands and tucked her loose hair behind her ear. “I guess I need to go now, Mistress Jas. I still have a lot of things scheduled for today.” “I will see you out.” “Thank you, Mistress Jas.” They went out of the room and Liriel was standing there waiting for the princess. “Let us go.” Liriel nodded and looked at the nun to greet her with a nod and then followed the princess as she walked towards her carriage. “We are bound to be at this venue before one,” the princess reminded Liriel I case he forgot. Liriel nodded. “You need to eat before you go there, Princess.” Princess Slithen felt her heart skipped a beat but she tried her best not to make it obvious. She should not feel what she’s feeling right now. She should suppressed her feelings. Princess Slithen looked towards on the opposite direction. “I know. No need to remind me. All you have to do is just to accompany me for my safety and you are only required to speak when I speak to you.” Limiting their conversation was good for the both of them, Princess Slithen thought. “All right, your highness,” Liriel answered and closed the carriages door and sat beside the coachman to tell him where they should be heading. The princess ate inside the carriage since the royal kitchen had already prepared her lunch pack in a box. They had no time to pull over for dining in since they only have thirty minutes left before the clock struck one. ~•~ “Welcome to our training center, your highness,” an unknown man said as the princess entered the Gun training center. “Are you ready?” Princess Slithen smiled and nodded. “Ready.” The owner of the training center looked at the princess from head to toe. “But first, you could not move properly with that dress of yours, your highness.” “Ah! Right. I brought a spare one. I am sorry I am dressed like this. I attended an event earlier “ The owner laughed. “No, it is all right, your highness.” The princess looked at Liriel who was just beside him. “Could you get my spare clothes?” Liriel did not answered but he went back to the carriage, instead. He’s starting to hate this. He’s supposed to be a knight and not a maid. Once he had grabbed the bag that contains the princess’s spare clothes he went back to her and handed her the bag. She was not able to notice it first because she was happily talking to the owner of the training center. As Liriel examined him from head to toe, it could not be denied that he’s well-built. He looked young, too. Maybe about their age. “Princess,” he called and that’s how the princess noticed the bag he was handing. She grabbed the bag without looking at him. “I’ll get dressed, first,” the princess said. “Oh, yes. I can direct you to the comfort room.” The princess immediately shook her head. “Oh, no no. I can manage.” She already show the comfort room because of its big signage that’s why she did not need someone to accompany her. However, as she walked towards the comfort room, she could feel a present behind her. She turn around and saw that it was Liriel. “I said… I can manage.” “I was told to go anywhere where you’re going. I am staying outside. Don’t you worry.” The princess shook her head. She did not protest anymore since she knew ever since they were a child, Liriel was very hard-headed. He would always to the things that he really wanted to do. He was very persistent. As the princess arrived at the comfort room, Liriel was just standing outside the door as he promised. She started removing her long gloves and then followed by her fitted dress. It was not hard to undress herself since the dress only uses zipped and it’s just on the the side and not on the back. As she successfully removed her dress, she started wearing the spare clothes that she brought. It was a pair of training suit. It was a thick training suit. She purposely picked that training suit because she’s working with a gun now. Once she’s finished, she opened the door and just casually placed the bag that’s now contained her dress on Liriel’s hand. She said as she approached the owner. “Great, come follow me.” The princess nodded and followed him. Liriel was just a step behind them. “There are a lot of guns available here, your highness, but since you are still new to this I will recommend this Sig P365 9mm pistol because it’s lighter and easier to shoot. It’s the perfect concealed carry pistol. It’s not hard to hide it and because it’s lighter compared to other pistols, it’s easier to shoot. Once you’ve gain a loot of gun experiences then you can experiment other guns.” The owner handed the pistol to the princess. “How do it turn this on?” The owner smiled. “I am going to teach you that.” ~•~ “Now we are going to focus on your stance. Always remember to keep you finger outside the trigger area unless you are ready to shoot. Never shoot when your gun is near your body. It should always be arm’s length.” The princess nodded. Her arms were already extended. In front of her was an aim board. She’s also wearing an earmuffs for her ears. Liriel was just standing looking at the princess. Observing her every move. “Now, disengage the pistol’s safety so you’ll be able to fire.” The princess did what he said and the princess heard a click when she pushed it. The princess could not help but laughed. It was really obvious that she was excited. “Now, with your palm, pull the slide back and once it has gone forward, you are ready to fire.” The princess nodded and took a deep breath. She did what the owner instructed and the slide did gone forward which means she’s ready to fire. “Now, aim the shooting board.” The princess focused on the gun. She held it on arms length and made sure that her finger was outside the trigger. Once she’s ready to fire, she pulled the trigger and she had successfully shoot the target board on her first try. The princess could not help and jumped for joy. “Did you see that Liriel, I got the board on my first try,” she enthusiastically announced. Liriel smiled for her and nodded. The princess did not expect that and she turned back to the owner. She smiled at him. “I did great, right?” The owner smiled back. “As a beginner, you did.”
