"I want everyone of you to be vigilant. Be sure to guard every inch of the area and keep your eyes on the King. You're part of the trusted team so please prove that you are worthy to be here," Captain Gomez said when he gathered all the knight under his care in one area."Okay all of you go back to your designated area except to Gaden and Sarhel." Liriel and Reasee looked at each other. Captain Gomez looked each of them into their eyes. He encircled both of them while his hands were resting behind him. "You are both new here. You do not have any papers to prove your literacy towards this field. Specifically, this position. Both of you are not nobles and illiterate. Most importantly, you two were just an orphan. I do not know how you two convince Lieutenant Colonel Gala to include you to the training but you have proven to me that you are dedicated to this job and you are qualified based on your mental and physical performance so I have nothing to worry about. But, don't be too complacent I am keeping an eye on you two because someday I will know what your intentions are." The captain said. He did not want to include a nobodies on his company but the trusted Lieutenant Colonel trusted them and he knew the Lieutenant would not let someone join the knight that would possibly be a threat to the kingdom. He sighed. "Please, keep that in mind. Now get back to work.," he commanded. Liriel and Reasee saluted. The captain walked away from them. He did not threw any glance back. They just followed him with their eyes until the captain vanished from their sight. Liriel heard Reasee hissed beside him. He looked at him but Reasee did not looked at him back and proceeded to his station. It was just a meter away from him. The orchestra started playing. Everyone invited made their way out of the king's pathway. The king walked with authority towards his throne. He was with his queen and the princess of the kingdom. Once he reached his throne, he faced everyone. "Good evening my subjects. I want to thank you for attending my ball for my fifth anniversary as your king and also I want to thank my staff for preparing this wonderful event. Thank you very much. Please enjoy the party." Liriel intensely looked at the king. If he could just go to his throne, he would not think twice to stab him in the back. He tghtened his hold to his dagger. He was the King that was so good at deceiving people. No wonder he easily manipulated the actions of his citizens and make them believed that left-handed people were good-for-nothing and they deserved to die. If only they knew what were his intentions the reason for him to eradicate left-handed people. They'll be ashame to acknowledge him as king. "Liriel, let's go on a patrol." Reasee said. He already approached him. He guess he was already alright. He had no choice but to follow him than watching the deceiver king who always made him pissed off. He promise he would deal with him later. Once they stepped foot out of the venue, Reasee brought Liriel to a quiet place. Reasee looked at him. "Please do not do something that will make you regret. Everything comes in a right time but not today," Reasee said. Liriel clenched his fist. Is he saying that I am not brave enough to protect the left-handed? Liriel asked to himself. He knew he was being careful. They already got inside their target's lair. He needed to do his plans. If today was not the right time then when? Reasee held Liriel's shoulder. He was confused by his sudden action. "Being wise comes first so please set aside your bravery just for a while." Was reading his mind? "I heard that there is someone who's plotting against the king. If you will do something stupid right now you may be suspected and imprisoned. You do not like that, do you? You can't be in jail. You still have someone to protect to. So please, delay your plans for now. Please Liriel, I'm begging you." Liriel just looked at him, blankly. Reasee looked back to where the venue was. They should not take time. He started walking back to the venue while still facing Liriel. "Please remember that Liriel. Think." Liriel followed him and went to the darkest place of the area. He started the patrol there. "It seems like you are in deep thoughts." Liriel looked at the owner of the voice. It was the princess. She smiled to him. "Do you still remember me?" She asked. He pretended that he did not. "What are you doing here, Princess? It is dangerous here." He walked towards her. "I will escort you back to the venue," he said as he went towards her back to let her walk first but the princess faced him instead. "Do you still remember me?" she repeated. "Princess, we need to get-" "Liriel!" She shouted. "Slithen!" She did another shout. "Slithen! You used to call me that and not princess!" Princess Slithen hugged him. "Liriel," she said in a low voice. "I am sorry," she whispered. Liriel tried to get away from her hugged but she kept tightening and tightening it the more he moves. "I am very sorry. I have been waiting for this for five years. To apologize to you," she said as she sobbed. She was crying. He did not answer her or even hugged her back. They heard a gunshot from the venue. Liriel immediately removed Slithen's hug and dragged her back to the venue. As they arrived, everyone were already shouting. There was a man in the center holding a gun and a hostage. "Do not get near me or even try to pull a trigger! I am going to kill her!" He warned. The hostage was already crying. Every knights gun were already pointing at him. Liriel saw Reasee doing that as well. He did not other choice but to pull the gun from his hoister and pointed it to the man while holding the princess on the other hand. "Bring your king out! He was a coward! Always hiding on the shadows of his knight! Coward!" Liriel looked at the throne. The king and queen was not there anymore. Liriel looked up and he saw a sniper situated upstairs in a blind spot. He heard a voice from his earpiece. "Kill it." It was the voice of the king. Liriel looked at the sniper. He adjusted his self. "He killed a lot of people! He was a coward!" "Go," the king commanded. The man stopped and let go of his hostage. He froze. He looked at his heart. His shirt was now stained with blood. The man dropped to the floor. Liriel tightened his hold to the princess. The princess looked at him. She cloosed her eyes to endure the pain. He was holding him to tight.
