“Everyone of you are patrolling! And I have place knights everywhere, then how come one was still able to place a grenade on the castle’s vicinity?!” the captain shouted as all of the knights lined up. Everyone looked down. The captain looked at Reasee. “Sarhel, did you check up on everyone before the explosion happened?” Reasee stood up straight and saluted at the captain. “Yes, sir. When I check up on them everyone was on their assigned area and no one left their area. ” “Who was near that area?” “They were from different company, sir. They were specifically handle by Lieutenant Colonel Gala.” “And who was on the area before them?” “Still Lieutenant Colonel Gala’s knight, sir.” The captain stopped for a minute to talk. “Everyone, go back to your respective places. I am going to talk to the other leaders.” “Sir, yes, sir.” “Sarhel, “ the captain called. “Come to me.” Reasee nodded followed the captain. ~•~ “This already happened twice. First was the king’s anniversary ball and now this. Did you all check your knight? “ the colonel asked. “Lieutenant Colonel Gala, your knights were assigned there, what did they do there?” The captain looked at Lieutenant Colonel Gala who was beside him. Reasee was just behind him. “What are you trying to say?” “I am trying to say is there could be someone betraying us.” “And you think it is under my team,” Lieutenant Colonel Gala seriously said. “Yes,” the captain did not denied his suspicion. Everyone’s attention in the room was diverted to someone who opened the door. It bowed and placed something on the table. “This is the evidence that we have gathered from the area of explosion.” Everyone stood up to check on it and the captain smiled. “See I told you it is really from someone here who was working as a knight. That was obviously our grenade.” “This is not out time to point finger’s on each other. Captain Timo, if what you really think is right. Everyone’s room should be check. Any hint of betrayal will correspond into a punishment,” the colonel said. “We in the higher-ups will do the investigation ourselves. Understand?” “Yes sir,” everyone in the room answered. ~•~ “Everyone’s room will be check,” Reasee said to Liriel to warm him beforehand because higher-ups will be do it without announcing it to everyone so they would not be able to hide what they needed to hide. “All right,” Liriel answered. “Are you sure you do not have nothing to hide?” Liriel thought for a minute. Aside from the map that he made, there was nothing else and it was just hiding inside his vest. “Nothing.” “Think very carefully, Liriel,” Reasee said as he stood up. He could not stay longer or the captain will tagged him suspicious. “I will,” Liriel responded as he walk on the other side as well. He’s going to the princess’s room. The princess and her ladies-in-waiting were not hurt during the explosion. Maybe they could developed some trauma but aside from that nothing really serious happened to them. Her ladies-in-waiting were already resting in their own room. Liriel knocked on the door as he arrived. “Come in,” he heard the princess said. The king and the queen already visited her. He went out for a bit to talk with the king. The king has commended his bravery for saving the princess. It’s a little step to gain the King’s trust. “How are you?” he said as he closed the door. The princess was sitting near the window. She was looking at the area where the explosion happened. The princess did not answer and just continued to stare out of the window. “You should not torture yourself, Slithen.” Liriel walked towards Slithen and held both of her shoulders. He stood her up and helped her walk to her bed. He laid her down and cover her with her bedsheet. “Do not leave me,” she said. “I won’t. I am just outside.” Slithen reached for his hand. “No, do not leave me alone here inside.” “I am not allowed to stay here for more than five minutes, Slithen.” “I am sure they’ll understand. I just don’t want to be alone.” Liriel sighed. “All right, I will just sit near the door.” Liriel removed Slithen’s hand on him and placed it below the cover. He grabbed a chair and placed it by the door and sat there. “I’ll be here so you should just sleep.” Slithen nodded and closed her eyes. With what happened she really could not stay at rest but knowing that Liriel’s with her, she could not help but feel safe. After a few minutes, Slithen has fallen asleep. Liriel stood up when he heard a knock on the door. It was Lieutenant Colonel Gala. “Sir,” Liriel respectfully greeted as Lieutenant Colonel Gala was the one who got him in as a knight. “Follow me, you need to explain a few things for us.” Liriel looked at the princess. “But I could not leave her alone.” “She’s asleep. She’ll be fine.” Liriel nodded and followed him. “What do you need me for?” Liriel asked. This must be what Reasee was talking about. He did not know that it would happen immediately. Although, he did not have something to hide. What could have they found suspicious on his things? He asked to himself. “We are just going to ask you about some documents found in your room.” Lieutenant Colonel Gala opened the room and the other higher ups looked at them. Liriel looked at the envelope on Captain Timo’s hand. He immediately knew what it was. Reasee was looking at him worriedly. The envelope on the captain’s hand was something that they should not worry about. “What is this?” Captain Timo asked. “It’s a document from my parents.” “Your parents were left handed. When King Conrad became the king all of the left handed people were stripped from their position and all of their properties were taken away. How could your parents still have this?” “If you carefully look at the documents, sir, the transfer of properties successfully happened before the King sat on his throne. I was not able to immediately own it since it was on hold for a while until I reach eighteen. The properties were under my lawyer’s name for 3 years and it was named to me eventually. I am eligible to own it because I am not a left-handed, sir. I hope that clarifies that document there.” “But not only they were stripped from their positions and their properties were taken away, their family should be in the slums right now. Why are you not there?” the captain continued. “I can answer that and I am sorry for interrupting. I accidentally eavesdrop when I was walking my way to the king.” “Who are you?” the colonel asked. “I am Liriel’s lawyer and the king’s legal confidant, Confidant Guerra Mundial.” Guerra walked near them. “I am sorry of you have to know this now, Liriel but Liriel was adopted and before his foster parents died they unadopted him.”
