January 31st
I walk into E-block where my friends are all sitting. The fresh air hits my face as I walk towards them.
"Nishaat. How are you feeling?", Tharwah asks me as I sit next to her.
"Much better, thank you for asking. How much work did I miss out on?".
"Not that much actually. We just did a lot of math work and economics, that's all", Malikah says. She's sitting on top of a trash can.
"Okay, that's fine. I'll catch up in class with the work".
The bell rings and registration begins. We walk into class and ma'am takes the register to see if we're here or not. The bell rings and first period begins. We walk to economics, the worst subject to get on a Monday morning.
...
It's now seventh period and we're in Afrikaans class. This day went by really quickly I'm glad I got time to catch up on the work that I missed out on.
"She sits beside me like a silhouette, hard candy dripping off me till my feet are wet", I sing softly while I complete the work we got from ma'am.
"What are you singing?", Terri asks from in front of me.
"You won't know the song", I say.
"Just tell me it sounds familiar".
"Kiwi by Harry Styles", I say.
"You know that song!", She says shocked. "Have you heard Only Angel and Carolina?".
"Yeah. I love those songs".
"Have you heard, She?", Terri continues to ask.
"She's the first one that I see. Of course I have, that's my favourite Harry Styles song".
"Mine too!", She jumps from her seat.
"You actually listen to Harry Styles? I didn't take you as the type", I say honestly.
"I love his songs. I love One Direction. Do you listen to Niall's music?".
"I know This town, Slow hands, Nice to meet you, Black and White, Small talk, No Judgement and a few more", I say.
"I love No Judgement. Do you know, Put A Little Love On Me?", She asks.
"Yes I do! I can't believe you listen to them. No one in South Africa listens to One Direction anymore", I say.
"I do", She says.
"As do I", we both laugh.
Is this girl my soulmate or something?
I turn around to where Malikah and Santino are sitting and there looking at something on Malikah's phone.
The bell rings and it's second break. Finally.
My friends and I sit on five chairs in C-block. We chill there and talk about random things we did this weekend and stuff that we saw on our cell phones.
...
School has been dismissed and I walk towards the exit of our school. I see my older brother standing against the gates and I walk up to him. His talking with his friends. I stand between him and his friend who has glasses on. His friends hair has a decent wave in it, it falls just above his eyebrows but his hair isn't long, just the few strands in front. His hair is a dark brown/black colour. His friend looks at me and then back at my brother. I see my brother's girlfriend and I walk around them towards where she's standing. She greets me with a kind smile and I smile back at her. Why did he look at me so weird? He literally stared into my soul. His eyes is light brown, lighter than mine and he has a sweet smile.
Our transport arrives and we get into the big maroon van.
Why did my brother's friend look at me like that. He seemed so shy though. He was kind of cute but I wouldn't do that, that would be crossing the line. And my brother would definitely kill me if I had to associate myself with any of his friends.
Our transport drops us off in front of our house and we walk inside. We live in a complex of six houses, ours is the first.
I walk inside before my brother and greet my mom, aunty and grandmother. I walk upstairs to my room and take off my uniform and put on my shorts and a t-shirt. I walk back down stairs and eat something.
"How was school, my darling", My mother asks.
"It was okay", I say chewing on my sandwich.
"Did you get all the work you missed out on?", My mom says leaning over the table.
"Yes I did. I'm up to date".
"That's good".
I finish my sandwich and walk back upstairs to my room. I close my door as I enter my room. I didn't see that boy again that I saw last week. I wonder who he was. He looked so familiar, like I've seen him somewhere before. I didn't see his face properly but he had a nice side profile. I still can't get the feeling out of my system when I saw him. Why did he make my stomach feel funny? Why did my heart start beating so fast? Who was he? I need to know. I need to find him.
