Ariyah awoke a couple hours later to the wonderful smell of food cooking downstairs. She went into the bathroom and pulled her up into a messy and she meant messy bun on her head. She decided to stay in her hoodie and leggings for dinner. What was the point in dressing up when they all shared the same house?
She made her way downstairs and noticed a set of doors open and a formal dining room with people sitting around a table chatting and laughing. She almost didn't want to intrude. They all seemed to know each other pretty well and she really didn't want to ruin it, but her stomach was growling and she was famished. She never remembered wanting to eat this much living with the witches.
Someone startled her out of her thoughts yelling from the dining room, "Hey dragon girl, we can hear your stomach all the way in here. Just come join us already." It was a male voice sounded young.
She finally walked into the dining room to see four other people seated at the table. There were three women and a man or more like a boy sitting there. They all wore different expressions.
Moxie came walking in at that moment, "Go have a seat dearie, everyone will introduce themselves here shortly."
She sat at the table across from a very exotic looking woman. Her skin was Carmel color, with amber eyes, and sleek black hair. She seemed to be quit tall and lithe. Her expression looked more nervous than anything. She could sense the girl also was afraid of people finding out what she was. She could tell she was special.
Moxie came back in bringing trays of food, but she wasn't holding them in a traditional way she must be using magic. Everything was just floating in the air and settling on the table. Now everyone, let's please introduce ourselves to Ariyah, our very own female dragon. And don't worry dear everything told in this house stays a secret we all have a pact on that."
Like that made her feel any better especially since everyone was looking at her like an anomaly.
The first person to stand up and introduced himself was basically a teenager. He had shaggy dirty blond hair and hazel eyes. He was short and a bit on the scrawny side, "My name is Zak and as you know everyone in this house has a secret. I am a hybrid, a cross between wolf and mountain lion. Which wasn't supposed to be possible, but somehow it happened and once my mother gave birth to me she shipped me here. Moxie has been my mum. The only one I'll ever know. So that's my story next." Then he sat down.
The next to stand was the exotic woman, "My name is Zara, I am more sought after and rarer than the female dragons. I am a snake shifter. Very large like anaconda I've been told. I hide here so my enemies can't find me to use me for they're own evil plans. Moxie took me in when I was just a teenage girl. I stumbled on this place running for my life. Now I'm happy and this feels like home." The girl had a beautiful voice and a thick accent. She sat back down and motioned for the next one to stand.
Another female stood up. She was small in stature with white blond hair and the clearest blue eyes she had ever seen. Then she noticed the pointed ears and pixie like features. She had to be a fae of some kind. "Well, my name is Carman and I'm fae if you haven't noticed." She said pointing at her ears then continued, "Fae don't normally hang out in the human world, but I was a very curious girl and I crossed over here and loved it so much that I wanted to stay. My secret is I'm actually a fae princess and I'm here hiding from my family and an arranged marriage I didn't want."
"Now the last but not least, Violet please introduce yourself." Moxie asked her.
She was absolutely gorgeous. She had the most beautiful dark red hair and red eyes. She was also slim figured, but had curves to die for. "I'm Violet the vampire. I don't have a cool back story or running from anything. I just don't like to eat humans. I prefer the more vegan option of animal blood. I'm not as strong or powerful, but I don't really need to be. I'm very happy with my decision to live here because all the supes accept me for me. Not to mention with how alot of the races here eat alot of meat it's not hard to come by the animal blood."
Ariyah found some kind of strength and courage to stand up herself and give her little bit of a story, "I'm Ariyah an unmated female dragon shifter. My mother passed away from the virus after I was born. My father, which is currently sick and dying hid me away until it was time for me to save the last of the dragons. I'm on a mission to save them and find out where the virus came from in the first place." Then she sat down.
Moxie stated, "Let's eat everyone. Don't be shy. There's plenty more in the kitchen."
Ariyah ate with gusto. Everything tasted so amazing down to the homemade ice cream and apple pie. She felt stuffed to the brim and wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep again. She looked around the table and everyone seemed to be feeling the same thing.
"So little dragon girl, how do you plan on going about thus mission?" Zak asked.
She thought for a moment, "Well, research and alot of it. I'm sure this virus had to have started in a lab somewhere. A rogue dragon shifter with a vendetta or maybe even the half bloods from years ago. I was told to start here. There has to be answers somewhere. I know it's not safe to go home and I know I have to be part of the cure for the virus. My mother was pregnant with me while sick. I need science and magic." She sighed.
"Well, between all of us sitting around this table you have everything you need to figure it out." Carman said. "We all have a specific areas of expertise and plenty of brains to go around. Zak there is a genius in his own right even if he's a bit odd." Carman giggled.
"We can get supplies with no issues as well. This town also holds the largest supernatural library anywhere. History spanning back a millennium. This is exactly the place you need to be." Violet added.
"There might be some traveling involved at some point. This isn't the only community like this. I've heard of others. I've also heard of one large one in particular over in the states. I was told that they were half blood dragons, but as you know they're history is extremely complicated. I hate to say this about your kind, but your egos are very large and think they should rule everything and everyone. This had to be a way to knock them down a few notches. No offense Ariyah." Zak stated.
"I take no offense. I wasn't raised by the dragons. I was raised by witches and taught everything about this world. I'm just trying to keep the dragons from complete extinction. Now after that I do believe that our world definitely needs a revamp. A new form of government that shouldn't depend on how big or mighty you think you are. Like you Violet, vampires are fast, fatal, strong, beautiful creatures. The perfect storm. Could overrun the world quickly if they chose, but they don't. Wolf shifters have the large numbers, but are more Braun than brains. No offense Zak. It's the feline side that makes the difference. Now as for the fae, all the magic you possess and the glamor you can do. The fact you can blend in anywhere, but you hate the human world. You prefer your own so you don't have to hide your true self. Now as for Zara, I apologize, but I don't know much about your kind. I'm sorry, but my point is anyone one of the supes or all of us as a whole could take over the world at any given moment, but we chose not to. It would disrupt the balance which had already been altered because of the dragon virus."
Everyone seemed to agree with her on this topic. She really hoped to have them as allies in all this. She needed help. First step the library and then to find out more about the half bloods in the states where her family was living.
