CHAPTER 3: NEW DISTRACTION

CHATER THREE: NEW DISTRACTION.

After what felt like forever, the game finally finished downloading. There it was, sitting among the other apps on my phone. I stared at it for a moment and sighed.

This was supposed to help, wasn’t it?

With nothing better to do, I tapped the icon and turned my phone sideways. The screen lit up instantly, colorful graphics spreading across the display of my medium sized phone as the game came to life.

The screen changed, it displayed three options, sign in with iCloud, play as a guest and sign in with Google. Well…as a lazy person that I am, I clicked on the “sign in with iCloud”. It was easier because all the game needed was my Face ID.

I wasn’t about to start typing in passwords and all that.

Signing in as a guest would have worked too, but I wanted an account of my own.

They requested for my Face ID immediately, and boom, I was in. And it turns out…I actually already had an account before from the first time I tried the game.

I laughed.

The account was on level 6 already. I saw the weird looking character that was supposed to be mine, standing in what looked like a lobby I guess. There were so many things to click on, I didn’t even know what I was doing.

I should have called Darla for guidance. I didn’t even tell her the game had installed already.

I sighed.

I closed the app and went ahead to call her again. The phone rang for a while then she picked.

“What’s up?” Her voice came in through the phone.

“I don’t understand this shii.” I went straight to the point. Darla and I don’t exchange greetings like normal people would. We just go straight to talking.

“What? The game?” She asked.

“What else? What am I even supposed to do, I signed in already, but I don’t know what else to do.”

I sighed again.

“Are you slow? Pick a mode and play.” This girl just called me slow.

I laughed.

“Imma delete this game bruv.” I said to her.

She laughed too.

“Guy just…” then she spent a few minutes explaining things I barely understood. But I followed her instructions anyway.

By the end of it I was even more confused than when we started.

“Wait…” she said, then I received a notification in the game.

Player ~ Milkএ has sent you a friend request.

“I literally just downloaded this game, why would someone be sending me a friend request?”

“You f**l. It’s me.” A mocking laughter erupted from Darla.

“Witch.” I spat as she laughed at me.

“I like how you’re so clueless about everything.” She said and I gave a threatening glare cause we had switched to video call at some point.

“You’re so cute.” She added. I was used to it already.

“Come, let’s end this call, I’ll login and introduce you to my friends.” She said, her excitement evident in her voice.

So we ended the call, both logging in to the game.

Then I wondered…

Friends?

I wasn’t sure why she sounded so excited.

Weren’t they just random people in the game?
