I woke up the next morning to the sound of loud banging coming from downstairs. I rolled out of bed, grabbed my robe, and headed towards the sound. There must have been at least a dozen cooks scurrying around the kitchen. They were making what looked like a very large meal. "Who's coming over for lunch?" I wondered. I made my way to the dining room where my mother, father, and sister were having breakfast.
I sat down next to Hope and was immediately greeted by the service staff with silverware and a glass of orange juice. "Good morning my beautiful daughter, how are you?" My mother cooed. "I'm fine, who's coming for lunch today?" I asked. "Your mother is having several ladies over for lunch" My father commented. My mother changed the subject."We were just talking with Hope about your birthday party. We weren't sure where you wanted to have it this year."She said. "Honestly mom, I don't want a party this year. I just want to be with my family." I said, even though I was lying. "We know you're not the party type but this would be a great opportunity to meet some new people." My father said with a smile. Hope didn't seem to care about the party at all which didn't surprise me. She has always been jealous of me since we were little. She's two years younger than I am and we are polar opposites. She is 5'2", slim, dark red coily hair, and she is as pale as our mother. She looks like mom, but has Dad's curly hair and hazel eyes. She is an entitled brat that has been hand fed her whole life. She lived a normal life and I secretly envied her for it. "I'm not interested in having a party." I said sternly. "Okay then, so be it." my father agreed. The room fell silent for what seemed like an eternity, then finally he spoke again. "We have arranged a gathering for you to meet your future husband. It's on the eve of your birthday and YOU WILL attend. It's at 8:00pm and you will shift your first time with your mother and I at midnight. Do I make myself clear?" he said sternly. Now I understand why they wanted to have a party for me. It wasn't for me it was for them. "THAT IS IT!" I screamed. "I am tired of this. I am tired of my life being decided for me!" I pushed myself away from the table and headed towards my room.
Once in my room, I contemplated my next move. I had about a thousand dollars in savings and a full tank of gas in the Rover. Then it occurred to me that my car is pink and would stick out like a sore thumb. I packed as much as I could in my backpack and hid it under my bed. Tonight I am going to sneak out beyond the pack boundaries and never come back. I know exactly where I am going to go. The pack on the other side of the mountains can help me. I just have to make it there but it will be hard considering we are at war with the Red Moon Pack. "Anything is better than here." I thought to myself. I kept having this feeling that maybe I shouldn't go. That something bad was going to happen. I shook the feeling from my mind and focused on the plan. After binge watching movies all day, it was finally dark enough to escape. I slowly opened my window making sure my family didn't hear me. Wolves can hear a thousand times better than humans. I made my way across the roof over to the tree parallel to my house. I threw my backpack to the ground and took a few steps back. I jumped as far as I could barely making it to the tree. When I made it to the ground I took off running immediately. I couldn't risk anyone seeing me. It was really dark and I could barely see 3 feet in front of me. I ran for about 15 more minutes and eventually stopped next to a huge oak tree. I collected my thoughts and then continued on the narrow path to the pack's border.
There were several soldiers with guns lining the border. Some of them I recognized, but there are a lot of new faces. "I'm going to have to be quick and quiet to get past these guys." I thought to myself. "No, it's not going to work, they will see me. I need a distraction." Just as the thought crossed my mind, the guard tower less than 500 feet from me exploded. Still in shock, I stood there frozen for a moment. Standing on the other side of the border stood at least 50 wolves. Their leader, stood 20 feet in front of them in human form with a bazooka aimed at the guard tower. "I need to get out of here now." I thought. The soldiers that were left turned into wolves and tried to fight back. They were being killed off one by one right in front of my eyes. I turned around ready to retreat when I felt a needle enter my neck. Who the hell is that? I turned around meeting the gaze of The Red Moon Pack's Beta, Tristen. "Look what I found guys?" He said with an evil grin. "Alpha Ezekiel will want to see this." Another voice said. I heard several footsteps approaching but I couldn't fight the darkness any longer. Everything slowly went black.
