Chapter 4

I hardly spoke more than Hello or how do you do. I would answer basic questions. That’s how I spent the next year and a half. Barely talking, not acknowledging anyone just day to day studying, and meeting my dad’s “friends”. When I was 14 almost 15 that’s when Joe came into my life. Life a f*****g wrecking ball. He came crashing in and making me think that I could maybe love again. Boy was I f*****g wrong. I must have fallen asleep on that futon. The past memories flashing through my dreams and nightmares. What I wouldn’t give to see Eric one more time. It's been a week since I sent the letter. Joe has been pleasuring himself with one wife or another all week. He pretty much left me alone because my period had shown up. He was visibly angry over this. He's been trying to put a baby in me once again. He said the other wives have no issues getting pregnant. I shouldn't either. The blonde models were all about two months pregnant and all due around the same week. He’s definitely been busy… well his d**k has been. I will never tell him that I was given a 0.5 percent chance that I would ever get pregnant again. The beating he gave me when I miscarried destroyed my uterus. There was so much damage in there that it would be a miracle to get pregnant and not miscarry. And for that I'm grateful I haven't brought a baby into this awful world, and to have him as a daddy. Joe's family reunion is now only three days away. I had to pack a few “nice outfits” and then I had to pack for the other wives. Because of their “condition” they couldn’t even lift an empty suitcase let alone fold and pack for themselves. So they told me what they wanted to bring while they sat on their fancy expensive chairs and drank water from fancy glasses. I cleaned the entire house and cooked all the meals. Joe would be gone sometimes leaving around 7am and not getting home until 8 or 9 and night. I would never know when exactly he’d be getting home but I had to make sure a hot meal was ready and waiting for him on the table. Last night he made me sleep in his room. Unfortunately, my period had ended so he forced me all night, saying I needed to have his baby. That I needed to be rounded with his baby. When he finally stopped and fell asleep did I let the tears finally fall down my cheeks. The mental exhaustion finally taking me under. I woke up early my alarm lightly buzzing by the bed, and started my day-to-day routine. The other wives don't get out of bed until 8 or 9 at the earliest, so I get a small amount of peace to myself before they come tramping down. I wrapped a thin blue robe around myself and headed down to the kitchen. I open the curtains along the way to let in the natural light. Across the street I spot a car I’ve never seen in this neighborhood. Inside were 2 people and they looked to be watching the house. I hoped one of them was Anna or maybe they were people Anna sent to save me. My heart skipped a beat at the thought. In case it was them I opened the double French doors to let in the morning breeze. And an easier access for them if it was them to get me and get out. The Look Joe gave me when I was pulling my robe on this morning stated he wanted a quickie before going to work. And that was something I really didn’t want. I prepared his Yogurt and Granola with a scattering of blueberries. I kept my head down not trying to look at the car that was still sitting there. I turned my back on the door to the kitchen to fix his coffee just the way he likes it. I had just finished pouring hadn’t even added the sugar or the cold foam when I could hear him in the hallway. His breakfast wasn’t at the table yet and he hated to be kept waiting. I placed his food on the table and returned to the counter to get the coffee. I heard a few uh huh’s and yes, ok. I heard the I’ll be on my way in a few just as I was placing his coffee cup on the table. His head was high as he walked in, shoulders back. He was wearing a new tailored navy blue suit. I noticed the cuff links were the same ones I bought him for our first anniversary hoping to keep him calm and hoping for him to be kind to me that day. I noticed the handle of the coffee mug was facing the wrong way. Before I could fix it he grabbed me around the waist. He started nuzzling into my neck I stood there stiff as a board. My eyes stayed on that coffee mug. I internally prayed that he wouldn’t see it. I prayed that he would just pick it up drink it and go. Unfortunately I wasn’t so lucky. He stopped nuzzling my neck and I felt his chin rest on my shoulder. It took everything in me to not shake with the fear coursing through my veins. He saw the breakfast I had laid out, he spotted his coffee the mug with the coffee handle was facing to the left instead of the right. and the spoon was still in the mug. He spun me around and punched me so hard across the face that my head hit the counter and I had some blood gushing out. He whispered in my ear how disappointed in me for getting his breakfast wrong and flinched at his touch. “you need to learn how to be obedient and good. You need to be a wife that is easier to love. Why can’t you be more like Jennifer? He’s perfect in everyway. She takes care of all my needs with out being asked to. Or Nicola. If you were more like Nicola you would be on your knees for me every night with out question. And Miranda, If you could even have a tenth of the skills Miranda has in bed, I wouldn’t have to hit you as hard as I do. But no you’re like this. You can’t even set my coffee correctly on the table. You’re f*****g useless.” Before he left for work, he kicked me in the side a few times and slapped me a few more across my face. I felt blood pooling around the corner of my mouth. And watched as it pooled on the tiles below my head. He finally got bored enough that turned and walked out. Once I heard the garage door open and his car starting, I knew he was leaving for the day. I'd be able to rest and clean up the mess he made. Not like others would ever help me. I managed to get myself sitting up and I leaned up against the cabinet. The Stove was close enough I was able to reach not without pain in my ribs and I pulled the towel off the stove, holding it to my head, trying to slow the bleeding. With the towel pressed to my forehead I heard the engine of the Maybach drive away and the garage door lower back into place. Tears were falling down my cheeks and I just prayed that I would be able to get saved soon. My eyes were closed as I was sending the silent prayers. I heard a noise and tilted my head subconsciously towards it, light quick foot steps walking into the kitchen. When I opened my eyes A face was in front of mine. A face of the only angel I ever wanted to see. The face of the angel sent to help me. "Hey Cassie, are you OK? Ready to leave this place?" "Anna?" "Yea it's me. I brought Eric too. We're here to help get you out." The tears poured down my face. Relief and pain mixed together. Anna’s here and she brought her boss. They came to rescue me. She leaned in and I hugged her close. I breathed in her smell and felt her warmth. She was real. She was here. She came to save me. "Cassie, What do you need?" "There's a duffle bag in my closet. Upstairs, it's the smallest room at the end of the hallway on the right side. I've been packed and ready to go since I sent the letter." She nodded her head and ran out of the kitchen. After about five minutes, I heard her running back down. She asked for a plastic bag which I pointed to the drawer next to me. She filled the bag up with ice and placed it on my head. Then I wrapped my head up with a clean towel. “Alright let’s get you out of here. You ready?” “as I’ll ever be. Let’s go.” Anna then crouched down next to me and put my arm around her to stand up. "Lean our weight on me babe, I'll help you get to Eric's car." I nodded my head, and we walked out the door of the kitchen. I was limping badly from the pain in my leg. I must have landed on it wrong or something. My vision kept having spots and I felt like I was going to pass out with every step. We headed towards Eric's car. He was now parked in the driveway which made it a lot closer to get to by only a few steps. He helped lay me down in the back seat. He looked familiar, His eyes almost told me the story of his life with one look, but I think it's just my eyes still playing cruel tricks on me. Theres no way this was the boy who I had fallen in love with all those years ago. The one who shattered my heart by leaving, The one who I shared a kiss with that was so passionate that even at my young age I knew it was the kiss of true love. I laid my head on the sweatshirt makeshift pillow that was on the back seat. The Scent of cedar wood and musk invaded my nostrils. My body relaxing at the scent. I heard the trunk open and then close. “You’re safe. I’ve got you. I came for you just like I promised I would.” I heard Eric’s voice floating through the car as he lightly touched my leg. His touch was warm and comforting. I felt safe and the for the first time I didn’t flinch at a mans touch. We drove for a few minutes. I'm not actually sure how long. I fell asleep. The musky scent that wafted off the sweatshirt brought me comfort and I was able to relax. Maybe a little to well since I was almost asleep. When the car pulled to a stop. I heard some whispering but couldn’t make any of it out. I felt the cool air of the garage hit my legs as Eric opened the door. "Hey beautiful, we're at the hotel. Can you sit up so I can put this sweatshirt on you." I nodded my head and slowly sat up. He reached across and put the large hoodie over my head and tucked my hair into the hood. The hood covered most of my face. I scooted out of the back seat and tried to stand. My legs had other thoughts and started to buckle from the pain when I tried to stand. Eric scooped me up into his arms and tucked one of my arms around his neck. "I've got you now, love. I won’t let you fall." He kissed my forehead. And my heart thumped fast in my chest. Anna grabbed my duffle bag and I heard the beep, beep of the car locking and the alarm being set. We were fortunate that no one was in the elevator or in the hallway.
