Two hours max. That's the longest I'm staying at this party. Steven told me it's supposed to be a lot of fun but I'm not in the mood for that tonight.

My friend invited me to his house party tonight and I'm only going because he's a close friend it's his birthday and he promised me a good time.

I walked up to the house and heard the music blasting. At least it's good music so far. I walked up the steps and into the house and said hi to a few friends and acquaintances. I made a bee line to the kitchen where I knew I would be able to find me a nice cold drink. The faster I get my hands on one of those, the faster I can pretend to be into this party. 

-You finally made it!

I turned around and it was my friend Steven. 

-Hey!! Happy birthday man! I didn't wanna be the first one at the party. I wanted to wait a while before showing up.

-Bro, you showed up 3 hours later, he laughed. Let me introduce you to a few people.

-Can I at least grab a drink?

-Fine. 

I grabbed a cold beer from the fridge and followed my friend into the party. 

Steven introduced me to so many people I forgot their names as soon as I walked away from them. While I was talking to one of my friends, Lucille, Steven's girlfriend walked up to us. By the look on her face, I knew she up to something. 

-Lucille, how's it going?

-You know, same old same old. Meet my friend Sam. Sam this is Micah the guy I told you about. 

It was at that moment I noticed she was there with someone. We looked each other up and down and stared.

-Nice to meet you Samantha.

-Nice to meet you as well. 

I did not try to shake her hand since she had both hands behind her back and didn't make an effort to move them. I excused myself and went on to speak to other people. 

Later on in the night, I walked into the kitchen, and Lucille's friend was in there. 

-Hey, Max right? 

She didn't react.

I moved closer "hello? You're Max right? Lucille's friend?"

She looked up and gave the most dirtiest looks, "Samantha" she rolled her eyes and walked away.

I have no idea what that attitude was about but I was ready to play this game.
