“Lady Myric,” Columba said. “There is one barrier yet to securing the Lady Longblade"s loyalty, a barrier that I myself have just learned of in these last few hours from the Lord Baron Gneiss.” He glanced over at the Baron.
Deep into his meal, Marl Gneiss shrugged as though helpless.
Ari looked at Columba.
Who sighed. “Much to my dismay, I do have the One Sword Genesyx.”
Bere was quick, but Ari was quicker and tripped her before she got past her. Ari leaped upon her and grabbed her by the collar. “Did I give you permission to assault anyone? Did I order you to attack anyone?”
The younger woman struggled for a moment but Ari"s grip was firm. “We should have gutted him on the spot!”
“If that"s what your father had wanted, he"d have done it. Are you ready to listen?!”
