Columba looked sharply between Marl and Ari, then brought his gaze back to Marl. “Are you sure that"s the way you want to do this, Baron?”
“I am,” Marl said. “It"s the only way to be certain we"ve defeated him.”
Moved, Columba sighed and glanced at Ari. “What about you, Lady? Any questions or concerns?”
She looked as stunned as Columba felt. “That"s an incredible sacrifice, Lord Baron. I"d object, except that I know you"re right. It"s the only way.”
onlyThe three of them stood atop a knoll to one side of their campsite. They"d traveled inland nearly five miles before finding dry ground, where they"d set up camp.
Everything south of them was awash from the tidal wave.
