TARIQ'S P.O.V. I watched as shock filled her expression and tears filled her eyes, I fought the urge not to throw my head to the back in laughter as I stare down at her “You… You knew the entire time? How could you?” She pushed me with a force I didn't even know existed, which made me take two steps back. “Where's the fun in letting you know?” “You watched me run and make a fool of myself, and you knew we were mates all along. Is that why wanted to marry me so badly?” She growled with her eyes turning gold and her skin burning in anger. “I thought you were married?” “That isn't the question! Why didn't you tell me?” She yelled as tears rolled down her cheeks and my lips curved into a little smirk. “To do this. I, Tariq Graves, Alpha of Sunhaven Pack reject you Kitty Blackwood, as my future Luna and mate but not as the mother of the heir” She stumbled back from the pain at the slight snap of the bond It wasn't broken yet because I needed a pup and only her could provide one for me which was powerful enough to rule after me. She pushed my hand away as I tried to help her up, and I watched her cry her eyes out, this was the price she got to pay for hurting my mother and trying to spy on me “Don't try to escape, or you will die the moment you leave” “I'd rather die than ever be with you!” She growled with her voice filled with sorrows that could break any man, but she was the only woman I loathed with every fiber in me from the moment we met eighteen years ago. “Even if it met, leaving your precious daughter in my hands? You didn't think the daughter you abandoned two years ago was dead, did you?” Her eyes widened as she realized who I was talking about. The child who had let her to her escape was her daughter with Kieran who was abandoned in the forest before she got here “You monster!” “Come on, let's get married. Lucy already takes me as her father, the best thing you could do is give her the mother she truly deserved” I began walking to the house while she followed gently while having a conversation with herself. I was going to be her biggest nightmare and she had no idea yet. The halls were decorated like I had asked, and the entire pack was at the venue “We're getting married now? Are you out of your mind?” She matched my pace and walked beside me. “This isn’t your decision to make, Kitty” she attempted to speak again but then choose to keep her mouth shut A good choice. “Follow the maids, they will get you ready” she silently followed them as they bowed to me in submission I walked into the throne room where ancient items were kept. This pack has been built for centuries and powerful things have been kept in this room except for the gem that went missing a decade ago along with my father. No one had seen him since he disappeared right before us, elders claimed the gem of darkness took him to the realm of the dead others claimed he was in the veil, a place where you are neither alive nor dead, but it remained unknown as to what truly happened to him “Are you seriously marrying a woman from the slum? We had an alliance, Tariq!” Ravenna’s voice echoed in the room, “you promised that you will marry me and in…” “What are you doing in here, Ravenna?” anger made its way through my body “I followed you, obviously! You are not…” “Get out! The door clearly states that no one is allowed in here, what part of tha don’t you understand?!” she jumped as fear lurked around her eyes. “I just…” “Get out!” she took two steps back before dashing through the door, letting me take in a deep breath “You’re going to be late to your wedding” Skylar raise his hand up in surrender as my hand gripped the sword of hope “You need to stop showing up everywhere” “You need to stop playing with people’s minds? What the hell is wrong with you, man? First, you create an alliance with that witch…” “Her name is Ravenna” “That doesn’t make me like her, you create an alliance, and now you’re getting married to an entirely different person, what game are you playing Tariq?” “Let me handle this, if I need your help you’ll know” “Tariq…” “Leave it, Sky. Don’t push” I warned slowly, and he looked at me while squinting his eyes before he tilted his head to the ground. “Very well, everyone is waiting” “Keep Ravenna away from the wedding” he nods briefly before leaving and I sighed Skylar is the only friend I kept since I was born, or rather I was forced to keep. My father always said your beta is the only friend you could ever have which you could trust and well, that’s how I ended up with him for a friend. I walked down the hallway and saw her dressed in a lovely red dress with her hair in a ponytail, this girl was truly something “You are meant to be in white” “You are not meant to be in leather” she fired back while blazing in anger “Be careful, you don’t want Lucy to have a dead mum, will you?” I put my hand out for her to hold and she slapped it away. “I can walk” she walked downstairs leaving me behind and I chuckled We made our way to the pack’s square through a shortcut only known to me and Skylar. The celebration started and though many had questions, I could tell but no one dared to question my decision of whom to marry. I watched her silently mingle with the women of the pack which she hadn’t met, and the fireworks caught our attention and a hand wrapped around my elbow “Where’s your wife?” I looked down at Ravenna. “Get your hands off me” “What is your problem? Your so-called wife isn’t even at the damn party. And you're acting so weird” I looked up to look around, and she truly wasn’t at the party. Did that girl ever stop running?
