Having never dealt with this kind of loss, the only thing I could do for those who had lost someone in the attack was be there, make sure they were fed, and ensure their burial wishes were followed through on. I also became a sounding board for many who had no one else to turn to. Some cursed at me like I was garbage, blaming my mates and me for the deaths of their loved ones. Since I couldn’t say that I wasn’t the direct cause, I just let them be in their time of grief, even though it angered my mates who saw it as hateful and disrespectful.
